My emotion is not a weakness
Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood.
Today, I must confess—I am not at my best. A cloud of sadness hovers around me due to an unwanted happening.
It arrived uninvited, as such things often do, catching me off guard and pulling me into a whirlpool of emotions. For a while, I felt powerless, even a little broken.
But then, something stirred within me. A realization, subtle yet powerful: my emotions, no matter how dark, are not my weakness. They are my strength. Yes, my emotion is my superpower.
Let me take you on this journey of understanding.
The Double-Edged Sword of Emotion
We live in a world where emotional expression is often mistaken for fragility. We’re told to “stay strong,” “hold it in,” or “move on.” But what if true strength lies in allowing ourselves to feel, deeply and unapologetically?
Emotions are the raw, unfiltered language of the soul. Whether it’s joy, sorrow, anger, fear, or love—they all serve a purpose. Today, as I walked through the fog of my sadness, I realized that this emotion was guiding me—not destroying me.
It reminded me of what matters. It whispered that I still care, and that in itself is a beautiful thing.

Emotions Make Us Human—and Powerful
When we experience a strong emotion, it’s a signal. Anger may point to injustice. Sadness reflects our empathy. Fear shows us our vulnerabilities. And love? Love reminds us we’re alive.
If you think about it, every great piece of art, music, literature—even revolutions—has been born from a deep emotional current. Vincent Van Gogh’s brush danced in anguish. Rumi’s words were dipped in divine longing. My own poems, I realize, often emerge from a heart bursting with untamed emotions.
Had I not felt pain, would I ever have picked up the pen? Would I be sharing my thoughts with you right now?

Emotion as Fuel for Creativity and Growth
When I channel my emotion into writing, painting, or even dancing with my granddaughter, it transforms. What once felt like a burden turns into beauty, something to be shared, understood, and even celebrated.
The power lies not in having emotion, but in how we use it.
Take sadness. Instead of burying it, I write about it. I paint it in blue and grey strokes on my canvas. And suddenly, it becomes a message, a story, a source of connection.
Others read my words or see my art and say, “I felt this too.” In that moment, my pain became someone else’s comfort. Isn’t that magical?

Empathy: The Real Superpower
One of the most underrated gifts of emotional depth is empathy—the ability to truly understand and feel what another person is going through.
In a world rushing toward success and productivity, empathy is the glue that holds humanity together.
When I listen to a friend, I don’t just hear their words—I feel their silence. I recognize the tremor in their voice, the hesitation in their eyes. Why? Because I, too, have been there. That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.
Transforming Pain into Purpose
Many of us have been taught to avoid pain. But I say—embrace it. Sit with it. Let it teach you. Pain has been my best mentor. It has humbled me, shaped my values, and made me more grateful for the small joys.
And when I reflect on my journey, I see how every emotional storm has gifted me something—strength, clarity, resilience, and often, a new chapter in my creative work.
Today’s sadness will perhaps lead to a new poem, or a story, or a conversation that touches someone else’s heart.

Be Proud of Your Sensitivity
To feel deeply in a world that often numbs emotion is not a curse—it’s a blessing. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If your heart breaks easily, it means it opens easily too—for joy, for love, for laughter.
So, today, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I let my tears fall. I write these words with trembling fingers and a hopeful soul.
Because I know now — my emotion is not a weakness. It is my superpower.
Thank you for being here with me. If you’re feeling low today, know that your emotions are trying to tell you something. Listen to them, honor them, and let them lead you to your next masterpiece.
Until next time,
With love and warmth,
Vijay Verma

This is a beautifully raw and empowering reflection on the transformative power of emotion. It dismantles the myth that sensitivity equals weakness, reframing deep feeling as a source of creativity, connection, and resilience. The prose flows like a heartfelt conversation, blending personal vulnerability with universal truth—especially the idea that pain, when channeled, becomes purpose. The closing lines are a gift to anyone struggling: a reminder that even our darkest emotions can be alchemized into art, empathy, or growth. A poignant, uplifting read Verma ji 🌷🤝

This reminds me of something Jandy Nelson said “a broken heart is an open heart”. But also of something I heard in an AJR song “a hundred bad days make a hundred good stories”. Honestly, it feels like I’m being reminded of every lyric, line or image that I’ve tucked deep into my psyche.
Because you’ve somehow managed to write my manifesto. Narcissistic as this sounds, this post was made just for me. Thank you!

Wow—what a beautiful response. Your words truly moved me.
Quoting Jandy Nelson and AJR felt like opening a window to your soul, and I’m deeply honored that my post resonated so personally with you. It’s not narcissistic at all—it’s the magic of shared humanity, when someone else’s truth feels like your own reflection. If my words gave voice to something you’ve carried within, then I feel this connection has served its highest purpose. Thank you for reminding me why I write. 💙🌿

That’s beautiful. We all need to hold on to the ability to feel. What if one day when you really need to care, you realize you can’t anymore?

Absolutely—what a profound and haunting thought.
To lose the ability to feel would be like losing the very essence of being human. Emotions, even the difficult ones, are what tether us to meaning, to empathy, to life itself. Numbness may shield us from pain, but it also steals the joy, the wonder, and the connection that make life worth living. Thank you for this powerful reminder—to feel is to live, and to care is our greatest strength. 🌿💫
