# My Dream Chocolate Bar Experience

The Place That Made It Real

Daily writing prompt
Describe your dream chocolate bar.

Hello dear friends,

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood, wrapped in something warm and sweet—perhaps a cup of cocoa or a cherished memory.

Today’s writing prompt is one I found absolutely fascinating: “Describe your dream chocolate bar.” Just reading those words made my heart melt like chocolate on a warm day.

For me, chocolate isn’t just a treat—it’s a journey. A bite into childhood, a sip of comfort, and a symbol of joy.

And when it comes to my dream chocolate bar, I can tell you this much: it’s dark, bold, intense, and just sweet enough to make you close your eyes and smile.

Think 65% dark chocolate, smooth and rich, with a sprinkle of roasted cacao nibs for crunch and a whisper of sea salt to heighten the flavor. It’s indulgent, honest, and a little mysterious—just like life itself.

But dreams don’t always stay in our imagination. Sometimes, they take shape in real life—and that’s exactly what happened to me recently.

Not long ago, I revisited Delhi, exactly a year after my last trip. While I explored several places this time around, one destination stood out like a glistening jewel: Dhan Mill.

Nestled in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur area, Dhan Mill is an unexpected oasis—a haven for lovers of art, culture, and food.

But for me, the real magic lay in a place called Colocal, a bean-to-bar chocolate factory and café tucked inside this creative space.

Dhan Mill wasn’t always the vibrant hub it is today. Its story begins with R. K. Jain, a visionary who moved to Delhi in the 1960s to set up a rice mill.

For years, the venture struggled. But where others saw failure, he and his family saw potential.

Over time, the abandoned granary was transformed into an avant-garde destination, brimming with art galleries, fashion boutiques, gourmet cafés, and a sense of wonder.

Whether you’re in search of beautiful handwoven fabrics, contemporary design, or just a relaxed place to sip coffee while admiring canvas art, Dhan Mill delivers.

One such artistic haven is Palette, a café that blends food with fine art. There, every wall tells a story, and every dish feels like a brushstroke on a plate.

But it was Colocal that truly stole my heart—and perhaps rewrote my dream of the perfect chocolate bar.

I arrived at Colocal around 6:30 PM, just as the sun was lowering its golden rays onto the leafy courtyard. The air smelled of roasted cacao and warmth.

Imagine stepping into a scene from a European chocolate film—rustic décor, wooden tables, warm lighting, and shelves lined with chocolate bars in beautiful packaging.

I ordered a 65% hot chocolate, and what arrived wasn’t just a beverage—it was an experience. Rich, velvety, and intense, it tasted like melted chocolate from a dream.

My tongue danced with delight. Paired with a Margherita sourdough pizza, it made for a meal that was both comforting and elevated.

The flourless chocolate cake—fudgy, gooey, and perfectly bittersweet—was like a love letter written in cocoa.

The chocolate tart, crowned with crunchy cacao nibs, gave me the exact flavor and texture I always imagined when I think of my dream chocolate bar.

I ended my visit with a cappuccino that felt like a warm hug in a cup.

Curious about how this magic was made, I ventured upstairs where the chocolate-making process unfolded like a live documentary.

The friendly staff explained every detail—from roasting the beans to grinding, tempering, and finally molding.

I was thrilled to learn that Colocal is one of India’s pioneering bean-to-bar chocolate makers.

Their commitment to quality and transparency was heartening. I even visited their bakery, where the scent of rising dough danced in the air.

Before leaving, I picked up some artisanal chocolate bars for friends and family—though I must admit, a few mysteriously disappeared before I got home!

My dream chocolate bar isn’t made just of cocoa and sugar. It’s made of memories, conversations, and the feeling you get when something is crafted with love and artistry.

Colocal’s 65% dark chocolate, layered with subtle complexities and a deep, fulfilling taste, mirrors exactly what I’d imagine my ideal bar to be.

Rich but not overpowering. Sweet but not cloying. Earthy, elegant, and full of stories.

Dhan Mill is more than a place—it’s an experience. Whether you’re an art lover, a foodie, or a passionate explorer of hidden gems, this place will leave you inspired.

And if you’re a dark chocolate devotee like me, then “Colocal” is a pilgrimage you must make.

So, next time you’re in Delhi and craving not just chocolate, but an unforgettable journey into its heart, head to Dhan Mill.

And when you bite into that perfect square of chocolate, close your eyes. You might just find a piece of your dream there.

Happy exploring and even happier indulging.

  3. What a lovely experience! If you’re ever in Chicago, I highly recommend visiting the market/restaurant Eataly. Eataly is a three-story building full of delicious food, passionate artistry, and adventure.

My favorite thing to get from there is the hot chocolate from their bakery. It’s not your typical hot chocolate—it’s rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious. It’s the perfect drink to keep you warm against Chicago’s chilly winter winds. 🙂

Every time I have it, it makes my heart happy and satisfies my inner child. 🖤
