# It is Time to Unplug😂

How to Do It Gracefully

Daily writing prompt
How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?

Hello, dear friends.

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful and reflective mood.

Today’s writing prompt caught my attention like a long-lost friend tapping me on the shoulder:
“How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?”

A deceptively simple question — yet deeply profound in its implications, especially in today’s hyper-connected world.

Unplugging doesn’t always announce itself with fanfare. Often, it whispers.

It might start with waking up tired, even after a full night’s rest. Or a growing sense of irritability for no apparent reason.

You find yourself staring at your phone screen without any real purpose, scrolling endlessly like a ghost through a haunted feed. Creativity stalls.
Your thoughts become fragmented. You snap at your loved ones, then wonder why.

These are not just bad days.
They are signals — a kind of spiritual fatigue — that you’re running on empty.

I recall a recent afternoon when I sat down to write a poem and felt… hollow. The words wouldn’t come. My tea grew cold beside me, untouched.

That’s when I realized: it wasn’t writer’s block — it was soul block. My mind needed air. My heart needed silence. It was time to unplug.

Unplugging is not just about turning off the Wi-Fi or stepping away from screens.
It’s a deliberate act of reclaiming your attention.

It’s about giving your mind space to breathe, your senses room to feel, and your soul a chance to stretch after being cramped in constant noise.

In essence, to unplug is to return to yourself.

Here are some telltale signs I’ve learned to recognize:

  1. Mental Clutter: You can’t focus. Tasks feel overwhelming.
  2. Emotional Fog: You’re anxious or irritable without cause.
  3. Reduced Joy: Things that usually make you happy now feel like chores.
  4. Disconnection: You’re present, but not truly there — even in a room full of loved ones.
  5. Creativity Slump: Whether it’s painting, writing, or dancing — inspiration dries up.

If you recognize even two or three of these, it’s time to pause. Your body and mind are waving red flags.

Unplugging is not one-size-fits-all. Over the years, I’ve designed my own gentle rituals to reconnect with life beyond the digital glow.

🌿 1. The Walk of Awareness

Every evening, I step outside with no phone in my pocket. I observe the trees, the laughter of children, the drifting clouds.

The world — when observed mindfully — is the most vivid screenplay ever written.

🧘‍♂️ 2. Breath and Silence

Sometimes, I just sit. No goals. No music. Just silence. I close my eyes and focus on my breath — in and out, like waves kissing the shore. In this space, I often meet forgotten parts of myself.

🎨 3. Paint, Not Post

I pick up a brush and start painting — not for social media, not for feedback, but for joy. Colors help me say what words cannot. My inner child smiles when I create without expectations.

📚 4. Book in Hand, World on Hold

I revisit the classics or dive into a new novel. A physical book — with pages I can touch — is a powerful portal out of digital fatigue.

👨‍👩‍👧 5. Heartfelt Conversations

Unplugging also means reconnecting — with my partner, my granddaughter, my friends. We dance, we laugh, we share stories. These are real moments — unfiltered and unforgettable.

In a world that glorifies hustle and constant engagement, choosing to unplug is a quiet revolution.
It’s a way of telling yourself: “You are enough, even without the noise.”

When I return from such unplugged moments, I am lighter, kinder, more present. Ideas bloom. Words flow. Love feels fuller. It’s as though life hands me back a fresher version of myself.

We all carry a hidden compass — it nudges us when it’s time to rest, reflect, and reset. But we must listen.

So, dear friends, I encourage you to build your own ritual of unplugging. Start small. One hour a day. A weekend a month. Disconnect from the world to reconnect with your world.

And remember, sometimes the best way to find yourself…
is to log out.

With calmness and creativity,
Vijay. Verma

Yes, in our fast-paced world, we often forget that rest is not a luxury but a necessity — a sacred pause that brings us closer to our true selves.
I’m truly grateful for your encouragement, and I hope we both continue to embrace those quiet moments that restore our spirit.
