Hello, dear friends!
I hope this blog finds you in great spirits and wrapped in the warmth of joy. Today’s writing prompt struck a special chord with me — “How do you feel about cold weather?”

It seems like such a simple question, but it tugged at a string of childhood memories that I had kept tucked away for years.

As I began to reflect, I realized how my relationship with the cold has undergone a remarkable transformation over time—from fear to fondness, from illness to inner strength.

Let me take you back to the early winters of my childhood. The very mention of cold weather would bring a frown to my face.

You see, I was a child who suffered from bronchitis, a condition that made my lungs weak and my immunity even weaker. Winter meant endless coughing, sleepless nights, and frequent visits to the doctor.

Every gust of cold wind felt like a personal enemy, and every foggy morning was a silent warning.

While other children were playing outside, building snowmen or flying kites in the crisp air, I was indoors under heavy blankets, sipping ginger-infused soups and avoiding cold foods.

My parents were always worried. They tried their best to protect me, but deep inside, I had developed a fear — a deep dislike for winter that stayed with me for many years.

But time has its own way of healing wounds. As I grew older — or rather, as I like to say, grew younger with age — my perspective started to change.

Life after retirement opened up a whole new chapter for me. I was no longer rushing to work, no longer battling deadlines. Instead, I had time to breathe, reflect, and invest in myself.

I began practicing Yoga and attended workshops on the Art of Living. These simple yet powerful techniques not only rejuvenated my body but also revitalized my lungs.

Slowly but surely, the fear of cold began to melt. My bronchitis became manageable, and over the years, completely faded away like morning mist.

Today, I can proudly say — I love cold weather!
What once felt like a burden has now become a blessing.

Winter is no longer the villain of my story; it is a cherished character that brings warmth in unexpected ways. Here are a few reasons why I now eagerly await the arrival of this beautiful season:

1. Better Digestion and Energy

Cold weather naturally increases the body’s metabolism. I find my digestion to be much better during this time, which means I can enjoy my favorite foods guilt-free! From piping hot soups to homemade sweets, winter is a gourmet’s delight.

2. Sound Sleep

There’s something magical about snuggling into a warm blanket on a cold night. The chill in the air calms the nervous system, making sleep deeper and more restful.

I wake up feeling fresh and energized, ready to paint, write, and enjoy the day ahead.

3. My Favorite Wardrobe

Winter allows me to bring out my most elegant clothes — cozy shawls, stylish jackets, and colorful woollens.

There’s an undeniable charm in dressing up during the colder months, something summer never quite offers.

4. Inspiration for Creativity

Perhaps the best part about winter is how it inspires my art and writing. The misty mornings, the golden sunlight filtering through trees, the hush in the air — all these create the perfect setting for introspection and creativity.

Many of my paintings and heartfelt poems have been born during chilly afternoons spent sipping tea and looking out at the fog.

5. Festive Joy

Let’s not forget the festivals that arrive with winter — from Diwali’s sparkle to Christmas cheer and the reflective peace of the New Year.

These celebrations bring families together and fill hearts with warmth that defies the outside chill.

A Message to My Younger Self

If I could go back and speak to the shivering child I once was, I would whisper, “Hang in there. This season that frightens you today will one day become your favorite.

You will breathe freely, laugh loudly, and dance under the stars without fear.” Life indeed has its surprises.

So, how do I feel about cold weather now?
Grateful.

Grateful that I have lived long enough to see the season from a new lens. Grateful for the strength I’ve gained through yoga and mindful living.
Grateful for the chance to celebrate every winter morning like a fresh beginning.

Cold weather taught me that change is possible — not just in climate, but in our hearts, in our health, and in how we see the world. And that, dear friends, is a lesson worth embracing.
