Hello friends,
I hope this blog finds you well. When we meet someone, we usually share greetings, discuss the weather, and tell stories about family or work, but there’s often more below the surface.
isn’t there? Some aspects of ourselves remain tucked away, waiting for the right moment or the right person to be revealed.
Today’s prompt—”What’s something most people don’t know about you?”—is one of those rare opportunities where I get to peel back the layers and share something personal.
So here’s my story—a side of me most people don’t know, but one that has shaped my life in unimaginable ways.

The Unexpected Turn
Most people know me as a retired banker, an artist, a writer, someone who finds solace in creativity and words. But they don’t know that this life, this version of me, was born out of a complete 180-degree turn.
For a good portion of my life, I wasn’t passionate about writing or art. I was a man of numbers, calculations, and financial ledgers. In fact, I didn’t even like literature much back then.
My career in banking was purely pragmatic, a stable job to support my family, not one born out of passion. It was a life driven by necessity, and that’s something I never openly talk about.
This might surprise some people who now see me as an imaginative soul, crafting blogs, poems, and paintings.
The truth is, the creative side of me was always dormant, waiting for a spark to ignite it. And that spark didn’t happen until much later in life.

The Spark That Changed Everything
It wasn’t until I retired that I truly rediscovered myself. After years of spreadsheets, meetings, and deadlines, I found myself standing at the edge of a vast, open field.
Retirement gave me time—time to breathe, time to think, time to explore. But more importantly, it gave me time to reflect on what I wanted for myself in this next chapter.
One day, I found myself holding a paintbrush for the first time since childhood. It was like opening a door to a forgotten room.
I remember the joy that surged through me as I splashed color onto the canvas, not knowing what I was doing but feeling alive in a way I hadn’t in years. That’s when it hit me—there’s more to me than I ever realized.
And so began my journey into art and writing. I started small—doodles on a page, scribbled thoughts in a journal—but it grew, slowly and steadily.
What started as a hobby turned into a passion, and eventually, it became a vital part of my life.

The Power of Vulnerability
But here’s the part that most people don’t know. It wasn’t just the love of art and words that made this transformation possible; it was the realization that I didn’t have to be perfect.
For so long, my life was about precision—accuracy in banking, and reliability in my role as a provider. But art, poetry, storytelling? These things were different.
They required vulnerability. They demanded that I let go of control, accept mistakes, and embrace the imperfections that make life beautiful.
This journey into creativity wasn’t just about discovering a new talent; it was about discovering a new philosophy for life.
I learned that sometimes the messiest, most unplanned strokes on a canvas can create the most beautiful masterpiece. And this metaphor holds true not just in art, but in life itself.
It’s okay not to have everything figured out. It’s okay to make mistakes, as long as we’re open to learning from them.

Creativity as Healing
What most people don’t know is that this transformation also became my therapy. Life throws challenges at us all, but I found that creating something—whether it’s a poem, a painting, or a blog—became my way of processing emotions.
When life felt heavy, I turned to the page or the canvas, and suddenly, those burdens seemed lighter. It’s a form of healing, one that goes deeper than words can express.
This connection between creativity and emotional well-being was something I never understood before. But now, I see it as a lifeline, one that keeps me grounded and allows me to approach each day with gratitude.

The Takeaway
So, what’s something most people don’t know about me? It’s this: I wasn’t always the person I am today.
The artist, the writer, the dreamer—it all came later in life, after a long journey through the world of finance.
It took time, patience, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. But the beauty of life is that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
As you read this, I hope it inspires you to dig a little deeper into yourself. What’s that hidden passion you haven’t explored yet?
What part of yourself is still waiting to be discovered? Life is full of surprises, and sometimes, the greatest surprise is what we find within ourselves when we least expect it.
So, take that leap, even if it feels scary. Embrace the unknown, and you just might uncover a side of yourself that you never knew existed. After all, life is a canvas, and we are the artists.

Indeed, life often takes us on unexpected journeys through the unknown.
It’s like walking down a winding road where we can’t always see what’s ahead, but that’s where the magic lies.
The uncertainty of life, while challenging, also brings with it endless possibilities for growth, discovery, and transformation.
