Dear Friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood! Today, I received a daily writing prompt that brought back a wave of nostalgia: “What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?”
In this digital age, the variety of online and offline games is astounding, captivating not only children but also those of us in our golden years.
As time has passed and I’ve journeyed through different stages of life, my favorite games have evolved, each phase marked by its own cherished pastimes.

Childhood Memories: (Gilli Danda, Kite Flying, and Luka Chhipi)
During my childhood, my favorite games were Gilli Danda, Kite Flying, and Luka Chhipi. Gilli Danda, a traditional Indian game similar to cricket, was a thrilling outdoor activity that required skill and precision.
Kite flying was another favorite, especially during festivals when the sky would be adorned with colorful kites, and the challenge was to keep yours flying the longest.
Luka Chhipi, or hide and seek, was a game of excitement and strategy, played with friends in the neighborhood. These games were not just about fun; they were about community, laughter, and the simple joys of childhood.

College Days: Cards, Cricket, and Badminton.
As I entered my college years, my interests shifted. Living in a hostel introduced me to the world of card games. We spent countless evenings playing games like Poker and Rummy.
These card games were a great way to bond with friends and pass the time. Cricket and Badminton were my go-to outdoor activities, providing a perfect balance of physical exercise and friendly competition.
The camaraderie and spirit of these games made my college days unforgettable.

Professional Life: Sudoku and Video Games
Transitioning into professional life meant less time for outdoor games, but it didn’t diminish my love for playing. Sudoku became a favorite, offering a mental challenge that I found both relaxing and stimulating.
Video games also found a place in my heart during this stage. They were a perfect way to unwind after a long day at work. Games like Tetris and Pac-Man brought back the excitement of childhood with a modern twist.
Golden Years: Spades, Gin Rummy, Candyland, and Checkers
Now, in my golden years, my favorite games have adapted to fit my lifestyle. Card games such as Spades, Gin Rummy, I Declare War, and Speed are regular fixtures at my table.
These games are engaging, keep my mind sharp, and provide a wonderful way to connect with friends and family.
When it comes to board games, Candyland and Checkers hold a special place in my heart. Candyland, with its colorful board and simple rules, is a delightful trip down memory lane, while Checkers offers a bit more strategy and challenge. Both games are fun to play and keep me engaged for hours.
Modern Favorites: Jeopardy and Monopoly on PS4
In the realm of video games, my favorites mirror my love for board games. Jeopardy and Monopoly on my PS4 are among my top picks. Jeopardy, with its trivia questions, keeps my knowledge fresh and offers a bit of a competitive edge.
Monopoly, a classic board game in a digital format, is perfect for those evenings when I want to dive into a game of strategy and chance. These games are a great way to pass the time and keep my mind active.

The Joy of Games
As you can see, my favorite games have evolved over time, reflecting the different stages of my life. Each game, whether from my childhood or my current golden years, holds a special place in my heart.
They are not just a way to pass the time but are a source of joy, engagement, and connection with others.
Now, I turn the question to you, dear friends: What is your favorite game? How do you like to pass the time? I’d love to hear about the games that bring you joy and fill your days with fun.
Thank you for joining me on this nostalgic journey through my favorite pastimes. I hope it brings back fond memories of your own and inspires you to revisit the games that have brought you joy throughout your life.
