Hello friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood! Today, I’m excited to delve into the Writing Prompt Question: “What do you listen to while you work?” Yes, I would love to reveal my secret in this matter… Ha ha ha!😂😂
Don’t be mistaken
Being a retired person means I have the luxury of spending most of my time at home. But don’t be mistaken, I am not wasting my time.
In fact, I have embraced this phase of life to pursue my passions with even more vigor. I work from home, dedicating my time to what I love the most: writing and creating art.
My days are a blend of storytelling, poetry, and a significant portion of drawing and painting. These activities require a great deal of concentration, and to avoid boredom, I have found solace in music.
Music has become my constant companion, turning my workspace into a realm of creativity and tranquility.
I love old Hindi film songs
I have a soft spot for old Hindi film songs, especially those sung by legends like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Manna Dey. Their timeless melodies and soulful lyrics have a way of transporting me to a different era, filling my heart with nostalgia and joy.
These songs are like a soothing balm to my soul, providing the perfect backdrop as I delve into my creative endeavors.
But that’s not all. I have a little secret that adds a personal touch to my musical journey. Over the years, I have written numerous poems, and with the help of an app called Suno.com,
I have transformed some of these poems into songs. Yes, you heard it right. I listen to my own compositions while I work. There is something incredibly special about hearing my words come to life through music.
These self-made songs are close to my heart, and they inspire me in ways I never thought possible.

My personalized songs play in the background
When I am engaged in serious business like painting or working on intricate details in my artwork, these personalized songs play in the background, creating an atmosphere of calm and focus.
The familiarity of my own words set to music helps me stay centered and deeply connected to my work. It’s like having a part of myself present in every stroke of the brush or every word I write.
The process of converting my poems into songs has been a journey in itself. I remember the first time I heard my poem turned into a song; it was a surreal experience.
There was a sense of pride and accomplishment that came with it, knowing that my creativity had found a new medium to express itself. Over time, this practice has become an integral part of my creative routine, adding a unique dimension to my work.

My Song is a source of inspiration
Listening to these songs is more than just a means to pass the time; it is a source of inspiration. It reminds me of the emotions and thoughts that led to the creation of each poem.
This connection fuels my creativity, allowing me to produce art that is not only visually appealing but also deeply meaningful.
In addition to old Hindi film songs and my own compositions, I occasionally explore other genres of music. Classical music, with its intricate compositions and soothing rhythms, often finds its way into my playlist.
There is something incredibly calming about listening to a symphony or a piano concerto while I work. It helps me maintain a steady pace and keeps my mind engaged.

Sometimes, I also indulge in instrumental music, especially when I need to focus on detailed aspects of my artwork. The absence of lyrics allows my mind to wander freely, sparking new ideas and enhancing my creative flow.
Whether it’s the gentle strumming of a guitar or the melodic tunes of a flute, instrumental music has a magical way of enhancing my concentration.
Music plays a crucial role in my creative process
Yes, music plays a crucial role in my creative process. It is my trusted companion, offering comfort, inspiration, and focus.
Whether it’s the timeless classics of Rafi, Kishore, and Manna Dey, or the personalized tunes of my own compositions. each genre brings something unique to my workspace, making my creative journey more enjoyable and fulfilling.
So, the next time you find yourself looking for a way to enhance your work environment, consider the power of music. Find the tunes that resonate with you, and let them accompany you on your creative adventures. Trust me, it makes all the difference.

I am not sure how these prompts work. I hope that is mine for tomorrow. Your genres are a tad different than mine still with a love for music. Enjoyed reading this and I am putting on some classical music as I must get back to work.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I’m glad you enjoyed reading my post and that it resonated with your love for music, even if our genres differ.
Regarding the prompts, they can indeed be a bit tricky at first. Essentially, they’re just starting points or questions to inspire your writing for the day. You can interpret them however you like and let your creativity flow. It’s all about exploring new ideas and perspectives.

I can’t focus when music is playing in the background while I write. It makes no sense, for all the reasons you brought up, but sadly, I’m stuck with silence instead.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my recent blog post about what I listen to while I work.
It’s always wonderful to hear from you and learn from your own experiences and preferences.
Firstly, let me say that I completely understand where you’re coming from.
We all have our unique ways of creating and finding what works best for us is key.
While music can be a source of inspiration and focus for some, it can be a distraction for others.
There’s no right or wrong way to approach creative process – it’s all about what helps us produce the best work.
