#Heart-Wrenching Plea#

The Price of Progress

Hi everyone, Vijay Verma here. I have a small family. I used to work for a bank, and now, retired, I live with my family. Although my family is small, our limited income meant we faced financial constraints from the beginning.

But despite all the adverse circumstances, I never chose the wrong path and continued to support my family with honestly earned money.

I provided my children with a good education and strong values. I never liked frivolous spending, so our life never went off track. Today, even though we don’t have much wealth or a large bank balance, I am living a content life and sleep peacefully at night.

I am enjoying my hobbies. You can say that I am a man of diverse interests. I write poetry and create art. All my children are busy with their respective jobs, and our relationship and communication remain strong.

But why am I writing all this? This is an important question, and you might be wondering the same. Today, I watched a video on YouTube that disturbed me deeply and struck an emotional chord. My mind compels me to write about what I watched.

The fact is, this scenario is happening in real life. An 87-year-old father was talking about his son. Please read his plea…

But why am I writing all this? This is an important question, and you might be wondering the same. Today, I saw a video on YouTube that disturbed me deeply and struck an emotional chord.

My mind compels me to write about what I watched. The fact is, this scenario is happening in real life. An 87-year-old father was talking about his son. Please read his plea…

“My name is Ajay Kumar Srivastava. I retired as a Joint Director from the Agriculture Department of the Bihar Government. I am 87 years old now. I have become quite old.

My son, Sanjay Srivastava, is a Forest Officer in the Manipur-Jaguar cadre. I sold my house in Kankar Bagh (Bihar) for 1 crore 10 lakh rupees to live with my children in Delhi. My son told me that I would prefer living near the children in Delhi.

So, I handed over the bank draft of 1 crore 10 lakh rupees to my son. Instead of buying a house for me in Delhi, he transferred the entire amount to his wife Geeta Srivastava’s account. Given my age, I appeal to the public through social media to help me get my money back.”

Hearing this heart-wrenching plea, I began to reflect. When a child is born, sweets are distributed in the village. Parents leave no stone unturned in raising them, living a life of deprivation, and trying to give them more than they can afford.

Yet, the same child can become so ungrateful that they force their parents into a life of misery, leaving them to wonder if they failed in imparting values or if there was a shortcoming in their upbringing.

Yes,. It raises a fundamental question: where do we go wrong?

Our world seems obsessed with money. Progress is measured in rupees and cents. Sometimes, strangers treat you like family, while your own people behave like strangers.

Why does this happen? This is a fundamental question of mine. Although there can be many answers, I want to express my feelings.

Yes, friends, the world is changing rapidly, or rather, we are advancing swiftly. New inventions are happening, and man is becoming more like a machine. Today, large houses, gardens, and all the luxuries are available. These can be bought with money. You just need to have money to buy them.

The wealthy are seen as superior, the poor as burdens. This chase for wealth tears apart families and communities.

We no longer have contentment or humanity. How much lower can we fall? It’s hard to estimate. We just want to get more, to buy the whole world. Aren’t we responsible for this? Our social system, education, environment of modernity, and hunger for money—are we not all responsible for it?

As long as money holds more importance than relationships in society, this will continue to happen, as shown in the video. Yes, if we want to bring change, we must first change ourselves and change our mentality.

What are your thoughts? Let’s discuss this in the comments. Together, maybe we can rewrite the ending of this story, and prevent others from facing the same heartbreak.

BE HAPPY….BE ACTIVE….BE FOCUSED….BE ALIVE…
