A Refreshing Escape in the Heart of Kolkata
Friends, gather around and raise a glass to nostalgia. Today, I want to take you back in time, to a bustling city, a lively atmosphere, and a drink that holds a special place in my memories.
It all began about 15 years ago when I was stationed at the Main Branch in Kolkata. Back then, our AGM saheb, a man with a knack for fostering camaraderie, had implemented a unique rule: every fourth Saturday, we, the 10 officers of the branch, would gather for a cocktail party at the iconic Bluefox Hotel on Park Street.
Setting the Scene: The Allure of Bluefox
Ah, the Bluefox! This legendary establishment, now sadly closed, was a Kolkata institution. Its vibrant energy, pulsating music, and delectable offerings were legendary.
And there we were, a group of colleagues, ready to unwind and bond over good drinks and conversation.
A Toast to Individuality: A Symphony of Drinks
The beauty of these evenings lay in their diversity. Each of us had our preferred poison: vodka, beer, wine – the options were aplenty. But for me, there was only one choice – the mesmerizing Blue Lagoon cocktail.
This tropical concoction, with its vibrant blue hue and sweet, tangy flavor, was a visual and sensory delight.
Beyond the Blue: Camaraderie and Connection
As the evening unfolded, the magic of the Blue Lagoon worked its charm. With every sip, inhibitions loosened, and conversations flowed freely. Personal issues, once veiled in professional courtesy, were addressed with newfound understanding.
The laughter echoed through the room, forging a deeper bond between us, all thanks to the shared experience and the refreshing power of our drinks.

The night eventually drew to a close, leaving behind a trail of happy memories and a hefty bill. But here’s the twist: I, the Blue Lagoon enthusiast, was the one footing the bill.
However, the following day, each officer, including our AGM Saheb, happily contributed their share, ensuring the financial burden was shared equally. This simple act solidified our camaraderie, reminding us that we were a team, both within the office walls and beyond.
