A Tapestry of Transformations:

Dear friends,

As we stand on the threshold of the promising year 2024, it’s time to take a reflective pause and revisit the mosaic of moments that composed the beautiful tapestry of my life in the bygone year, 2023.

Each month unfolded with a unique story, revealing a transformative metamorphosis that touched every facet of my existence.

From shifting to a new locality in the heart of Kolkata to embarking on novel adventures, the year was a chapter of personal growth and enriching experiences.

January: A Grand Start of SOE Premier League (Cricket)

The commencement of the year was marked by boundless enthusiasm and grandeur. A new chapter of the new year, 2023 began as we settled into the picturesque Silver Oak Estate in Kolkata.

The serene surroundings and the vibrant community became the backdrop of countless memories. In January, I stumbled upon a new form of excitement – the SOE Premier League.

It was an enthralling event that echoed the fervor of the IPL matches. The ambiance was electric, reminiscent of the cricketing extravaganza, and I found myself immersed in the joy of the game.

The details of this captivating experience will be unveiled in a separate blog, for it deserves its own spotlight.

February: Resurrecting Passion for Art

In February, I rekindled a dormant passion – my love for art and painting. The aftermath of the pandemic had disrupted my drawing classes, but determination led me to reconnect with my previous drawing teacher.

The result was a resurgence of online classes that breathed life back into my artistic endeavors. As an artist, I pledged to create 1000 sketches throughout the year, and while I fell short at 850, the journey was nonetheless a triumph.

The canvas of 2023 was already adorned with strokes of creativity. That enthusiasm continued ahead.

March: Holi, Family, and Colorful Celebrations

March etched itself into the annals of my memory as a month of vibrant festivities. The Holi festival in our Silver Oak Estate was not just a celebration of colors but a reunion of family.

My younger son’s presence from Delhi added an extra layer of joy to the festivities. The rainbow of hues mingled with the laughter of family and friends, creating a kaleidoscope of cherished moments.

April: A Memorable Union and Joyous Reunions

The tapestry of April unfolded with the threads of memorable events. I successfully orchestrated and celebrated the marriage of my younger son, a joyous occasion that led me to the charming city of Lucknow.

The marriage ceremony was a beautiful amalgamation of traditions, and the visit to my Big Brother’s house added another layer of happiness. Two families reunited after seven years, filling the air with enthusiasm and love.

May: Diving into New Waters – Swimming and Friendship

As the threads of 2023 intertwined, May presented me with an opportunity to dive into a new hobby – swimming.

After winter shut down, the opening of the swimming pool in our society paved the way for not only learning a new skill but also forging new friendships.

With a friend as my coach, I embarked on the journey of mastering the art of swimming even at this age. The slow and steady progress became a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to pick up a new passion.

June: Winning with Wisdom – Table Tennis and Badminton Comeback

June unfolded as a month of sports and rejuvenation. I joined the Table Tennis squad, rekindling my love for the game.

The facility in our society became a playground where I not only played against enthusiastic young players but emerged as the winner most of the time.

The smiles that followed when they learned about my senior citizen status brought a different kind of joy – the joy of defying stereotypes. Badminton also found its way back into my routine, completing the revival of sporting hobbies.

July: Shifting Sands – Siliguri Beckons

The month of July marked a significant shift, both physically and emotionally. My son’s transfer from Kolkata led to our relocation to the enchanting landscape of Siliguri.

Bid farewell to one place and embraced another, the transition was a rollercoaster of emotions. The cultural explorations and beautiful tourist places in Siliguri wove together a vivid and enriching canvas, leaving me grateful for the opportunities and adventures that lay ahead.
