LGBTQIA+ is an acronym that refers to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and/or asexual.
The additional letters and the “+” are meant to be inclusive of all people with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities
India, a country rich in diversity, is gradually witnessing a positive shift in the way society perceives and engages with LGBTQIA+ individuals. It is heartening to see more and more companies recognizing their talent and providing them with opportunities to thrive.
However, as with any transformative process, there may be instances of both sweet and bitter experiences when confronted with these individuals. Let us delve into some of these encounters and explore the evolving dynamics surrounding their inclusion.

A Journey of Acceptance:
While traveling by train, it is not uncommon to come across members of the transgender community, often referred to as ‘Hijras’ in India.
Traditionally, they have relied on the practice of seeking alms from passengers and offering blessings in return. This perception of their presence making the journey more comfortable stems from a cultural belief, that their blessings are considered auspicious.
However, it is essential to recognize that this practice should not be mistaken as their sole purpose or the extent of their abilities.
Financial Struggles and Exploitation:
It is true that many LGBTQIA+ individuals face significant challenges in securing stable employment due to societal prejudices. Consequently, some resort to alternative means of earning a livelihood.
Unfortunately, this vulnerability has led to instances of exploitation, such as demanding hefty amounts during important life events like childbirth or marriage ceremonies.
These encounters can leave individuals feeling conflicted, torn between the desire to support them and the perception of being taken advantage of.
Shifting Paradigms:
As society progresses, it is crucial to acknowledge the changing dynamics surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community in India. Over the years, concerted efforts have been made to create a more inclusive environment.
Legal reforms, such as the decriminalization of homosexuality, have paved the way for greater acceptance. With the emergence of support networks and advocacy groups, LGBTQIA+ individuals now have a platform to voice their concerns and fight for their rights.

The Importance of Empowerment:
In order to foster a more equitable society, it is imperative to empower LGBTQIA+ individuals economically, socially, and emotionally. While it is commendable that companies are engaging their talent, the focus should go beyond mere tokenism.
Employers should provide equal opportunities for professional growth and development, creating an inclusive work culture where all individuals can thrive irrespective of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Education and Awareness:
Promoting awareness and education is key to dismantling stereotypes and biases. Through sensitization programs and workshops, individuals can gain a better understanding of LGBTQIA+ experiences and the challenges they face.
Educational institutions can play a crucial role by incorporating LGBTQIA+ perspectives into curricula, fostering a more inclusive learning environment for all students.
Building Bridges, Not Walls:
It is essential to foster a sense of empathy, respect, and dialogue between different communities. Breaking down the barriers of fear and prejudice can lead to a more inclusive society where LGBTQIA+ individuals are not perceived as threats or anomalies but as equal contributors.
This requires a collective effort from individuals, organizations, and policymakers to ensure that LGBTQIA+ rights are protected and their voices are heard.
Friends,
As India progresses towards a more inclusive future, it is important to acknowledge the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals while also celebrating the positive changes taking place. Encounters with LGBTQIA+ individuals during train journeys offer glimpses into their lives and the discrimination they experience.

By understanding their struggles and supporting their empowerment, we can foster a society that values diversity and provides equal opportunities for all.
In this journey of change, let us extend our empathy, challenge societal biases, and work towards a society where every individual is accepted and embraced for who they are.
By doing so, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community in India.
As India progresses on the path of inclusivity, it is heartening to witness more companies engaging LGBTQIA+ talent. While there may be instances of sweet and bitter experiences when confronted with this community, it is crucial to move beyond superficial perceptions and understand their aspirations, struggles, and potential.
By embracing change, empowering individuals, and promoting education and awareness, we can foster a society where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Let us celebrate the progress made thus far and continue working towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

It’s great to get a glimpse into your daily routine.
Balancing errands, blogging, and family time is no small feat, but it sounds like you’ve found a rhythm that works for you.
Running errands in the morning must set a productive tone for the day,
and then transitioning into blogging in the evening allows for a creative outlet.
It’s wonderful that you prioritize spending time with your family in the afternoon, creating a well-rounded and fulfilling schedule.

I concur. I prioritize time with my wife and my chosen family of friends in the afternoon because they always have interesting conversations with me and by nighttime after writing in the evenings, I allow my posts to breathe and gain their stats over time prior to going and posting mass postings. I don’t use the function to preset my posts to queue and post because I would rather write them on the spot and publish them. I only use that function if I am going on vacation or if I am going to the hospital for medical reasons or if there is a family emergency.

I was thinking for a collaboration, I could write something and email it to you and then have you add onto it, as I found your “contact us” section of your website. My professional email is jgivler@giveprofessionalsolutions.blog and what I want to write about is how the topic you talk about every day on your blog, which is yoga and apply it to reasoning why exercise is very poignant to the homeless communities all around the globe.
