# My Journey After Banking #

Embracing the Canvas of Life

Hello dear friends,

Let me introduce myself: I am Vijay Verma. Four years ago, I started a new chapter in my life after retiring from the State Bank of India. I had a fulfilling career in the banking sector for 32 years. Now, I am enjoying a vibrant and purposeful life.

Now in Kolkata, the city of happiness, I am committed to living a joyful, healthy, and vibrant life. Despite my friends calling it retirement, I’ve simply changed the type of work I do.

Health becomes a concern at this stage of life. But I’m in good health and not retired. I’ve changed my way of life to move forward.

Retirement doesn’t mean being inactive, it’s a chance to try new things and enjoy a beautiful life.

I firmly believe age is just a number, and it should never hinder one from pursuing what brings joy. Identifying other options available to enjoy the remainder of life and planning accordingly is essential.

As Curtis aptly put it, “Although you will never be too old to reinvent yourself, there are some challenges you’ll face as you get further along in your life.”

My current endeavor involves making my fellow senior citizens aware of health-related issues and their treatments through social media. This powerful platform allows me to connect with friends, discuss personal and health-related problems, and share insights on maintaining good health in challenging situations.

Blogging has become my medium of choice for this purpose, covering various categories from health and wellness to personal poetry and artistic endeavors. Through these blogs, I’ve created a supportive friend circle, exchanging thoughts and experiences.

In the realm of health and wellness, I share my views on physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual well-being.

These, in my opinion, are the five pillars of true health. My blogs serve as a space to exchange ideas, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community.

Yes, poetry holds a special place in my heart. Writing Hindi poems allows me to express my feelings and find solace amid life’s ups and downs.

Continuously learning different forms of poetry, I aspire to compile and publish a collection encompassing my memoirs and unknown facets of my personality.

Another avenue of my creativity lies in painting. Carrying a sketchbook allows me to channel my favorite colors onto its pages whenever I need mental stability and happiness.

For me, painting is a therapeutic art that fosters self-care, concentration, and problem-solving.

Despite the passage of time, my love for sports remains undiminished. Actively engaging in table tennis and badminton, I share insights on various sports events through my blogs.

Now, I have added a new hobby of Swimming as well. At this age of senior citizen, I comfortably enjoying swimming. This hobby keeps me fit and active all the time.

Dear friends, this phase of life is not a decline but a blossoming of new interests and passions.

I invite you to join me on this exciting journey, where age is just a number, and life continues to be a canvas waiting to be painted with joy, wellness, and creativity.

  1. It really is about having a positive mindset, isn’t it? And not confirming to what others think we should or should not be doing because of our age. Live life by doing the things you enjoy, the things that bring you fulfilment. I notice you didn’t talk about the importance of family … or your delightful and endearing grand-daughter

    • Absolutely correct,
Maintaining a positive mindset and staying true to our passions are key ingredients for a fulfilling life,
regardless of age. It’s about breaking free from societal expectations and embracing the activities that bring us joy and purpose.
Family holds a special place in our hearts, and they are often the pillars of support throughout our journey.
As for my delightful granddaughter, she is indeed a source of immense joy and inspiration.
Her laughter and curiosity add a vibrant and uplifting touch to my life. It’s incredible how the bonds with family,
especially with the younger generations, can infuse our days with positivity and warmth.

  2. Swimming is a wonderful full body workout, creating strength with sleek, flat muscles instead of bulking the body up. Also wonderful for its breath control exercises!
