Shiva, incensed and oblivious to the boy’s true identity, lost his temper. In his rage, he drew his mighty trident and struck out at Ganesha.

Tragically, the trident’s blow severed the boy’s head from his body. Parvati, who had just completed her bath, emerged from her chamber to witness the lifeless body of her beloved son.
