#the magic of Kolkata#

Kolkata, the City of Joy, holds a special place in the hearts of those who have experienced its unique charm.

It is a city that captivates you with its rich history, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. From the bustling streets to the iconic landmarks, Kolkata has a way of drawing you in and making you feel right at home.

I am living in Kolkata for the last 15 years and love this place. I would like to share some of the specialties of Kolkata.

Panta bhat has a long list of benefits

Culinary delights

One of the things that make Kolkata so special is its culinary delights. One dish that captures the essence of the city’s love for food is “panta bhaat.”

Panta bhaat is the most common comfort food found in every Bengali household, especially during summer. This simple rice and water dish is so extraordinary that it became the winning dish of MasterChef 2021!.

The fermented rice dish is the ultimate summer food for cooling down the gut in the Eastern states of India. Known as Basi Bhat in Bihar and Pakhala in Orissa, it is a must-have in summer. I love this Panta Bhaat.😂😂

It represents the simplicity and homeliness that Kolkata embraces, reminding us that sometimes the most satisfying meals are the ones that connect us to our roots.

Walking through Park Street

But Kolkata is not just about its food. It is a city that celebrates art and culture in all its forms. Take a stroll down Park Street or Camac Street, and you will be immersed in a world of creativity and expression.

The walls are adorned with vibrant street art, showcasing the city’s love for artistic expression. The theaters and art galleries in this area are buzzing with performances and exhibitions, showcasing the immense talent that Kolkata nurtures.

An iconic landmark in Kolkata

The iconic Howrah Bridge:

Speaking of Kolkata’s artistic heritage, one cannot ignore the iconic Howrah Bridge. This architectural marvel not only serves as a vital connection between the city’s two banks, but it also stands as a symbol of Kolkata’s resilience and determination.

The bridge, with its intricate latticework and stunning views of the Hooghly River, is a testament to the city’s rich history and industrial prowess.

Victoria Memorial represents the majestic British architecture

Collection of heritage buildings

Another aspect that sets Kolkata apart is its remarkable collection of heritage buildings. From the majestic Victoria Memorial to the grandeur of Marble Palace, these architectural gems transport you to a bygone era.

Walking through the streets of Kolkata feels like stepping back in time, as you marvel at the intricate details and rich craftsmanship of these structures. Each building has its own story to tell, and together they form a tapestry of the city’s past.
