Yes, I am remembering Ranu Mondal today.

Ranu Mondal is a name that was unknown to the world until a video of her singing Lata Mangeshkar’s classic song “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai” went viral on social media. Her soulful voice and heart-touching rendition of the song garnered her immense praise and attention from people all over the world, making her an overnight sensation in India.

But the journey that led to her success was not an easy one. Born and brought up in poverty in Ranaghat, a small town in West Bengal, Ranu had to struggle for her survival since childhood.

But before the world knew her as the “viral sensation”, Ranu Mondal had a life filled with struggles and hardships. Born into a poor family in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, Ranu’s early life was marked by poverty and hardship. She lost her mother at a young age and was brought up by her stepmother who treated her badly.  Her father was a cook in a local Dhaba. Due to her family’s financial constraints, Ranu had to drop out of school after only a few years of education.

Some facts about Ranu Mondal

Ranu Mondal’s real name is Renu Ray, she was born on 10 October 1959 and belongs to Ranaghat, West Bengal. After marrying Babul Mondal she was shifted to Mumbai. She returned to her village after the death of her husband. That period was the worst time of her life. She was poor and her daughter left her away for 10 years.

Ranu’s daughter didn’t like her mother singing on a railway platform. Before the death of her husband, she used to sing in the club, but as her family didn’t like this profession she left singing in the club. After the death of her husband, she started singing at the railway platform for her livelihood. Generally, she sang old songs.

One day she was spotted singing a beautiful song with her melodious voice by a man Atindra Chakraborty, a software engineer. He started making a video of her and uploaded it on social media. She was singing on of Lata Mangeshkar’s song “ Ekk Pyar Ka Nagma Hai”. The video of her singing got viral overnight. Ranu’s melodious voice got highly acknowledged by common people and even by celebrities

Her first song, “Teri Meri Kahaani

As her fame grew, Ranu started getting offers to sing in Bollywood films. Her first song, “Teri Meri Kahaani” from the film “Happy Hardy and Heer”, was a hit and earned her even more recognition. She also got the chance to work with famous composers like Himesh Reshammiya and Anu Malik.

But with fame came criticism and scrutiny. People started digging into her past and questioning her talent and authenticity. Some even accused her of lip-syncing and using auto-tune to enhance her voice. Ranu was heartbroken by these allegations and felt betrayed by the people she thought had supported her.

Despite the setbacks, Ranu remained resilient and focused on her music. Ranu persevered and continued to sing from her heart. and perform. She even released an album titled “Ranu Mandal – Tera Ishq Mera Diwana” in collaboration with Himesh Reshammiya.

Once, Mondal’s reputation shifted from an inspiring underdog to a rude fame monster. Critics blamed her quick rise for why she couldn’t handle notoriety with grace and humility.

So where is Mondal now?

According to reports, her career’s on the skid and her bank account are not much better off. She had to move back to her humble start after the luxe life fell apart. Mondal’s journey shows how even the ultimate dream – fame and fortune – might bring harsh surprises if you aren’t ready for all that comes with it.

But maybe this isn’t the end, and Mondal will pull off a comeback.

Only time will tell if it’s a rags-to-riches-to-rags-again story, or if the ‘Lata Mangeshkar of Ranaghat’ has another act ahead.

In an interview, Ranu revealed that she had faced a lot of criticism and judgment in her life, but she never let it affect her. She said that she believed in her talent and that her faith in God had helped her overcome all the obstacles in her life
