“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one.” – Brad Paisley..
I am making resolutions for the new year for the last 5 years. I feel that this is the best way to evaluate our past year and think about areas of my life that I would like to improve.
Making resolutions always push me to set goals and get motivated to make positive changes in my life.
Yes, this is the best way to make a commitment to yourself to work towards becoming a better person.
I am a senior citizen as such I am very much concerned about my health. Looking at the present scenario of corona pandemic, I have taken some health resolutions for the new year. It is only related to my health, wellness, and wellness.
Commit to Physical health
My New Year’s resolution is to stick to a good workout plan that will keep me healthy and happy.
It may be a refreshing turning point for new habits and also a promise. I will renew my focus on what matters the most to me.
I do not have the intention to put too much pressure on myself for physical fitness but to focus on the small, doable habits to help my physical health in a good condition.
I think it will help to keep away any type of chronic illness and pain, and to benefit my overall wellness.
Commit to mental health
What we are experiencing in the present scenario, is that we get frequently stressed out, often tired, and have difficulty finding peace of mind. Sometimes we are just looking for greater meaning and purpose in life.
Really the life of today is stressful, and that is destructive for mental health.
Yes, in this situation we are in need of Yoga and Meditation. That is a well-proven exercise and can be used by anyone and anywhere.
I,, therefore, promise myself to learn and practice Guided meditations and Yoga for one hour in the morning. As we know, it will provide mindfulness and help understand and reducing stress.
Together, meditation and Yoga practice will serve as a catalyst for my ability to overcome stress. As I am already doing for the last 2 years, and continue for this year also.
Enjoy your Food
Whether we are vegetarian or non-vegetarian, everyone wants tasty food, but it is important to have healthy food as well.
Good Food is very much important to control many diseases along with good exercise.
Whatever we are eating, we should try not only to label it as being “good” or “bad”, but should also be cautious about its calorie counting
Friends, We should listen to our body, and what it wants. We should think about what is needed for a healthy body.
I always try to have healthy balance food and it is to be continued this year as well.
Control your Postures
Posture is very important whether we’re standing, sitting, lying, or moving.
We should be careful about how we sit, stand, move and lie down. How does it feel in our body? Do our muscles feel too tense?
It is obvious, because during the working period we generally sit in a regular chair for a long time, which has resulted in sciatica pain and dislocating shoulders, tightness around the chest and the diaphragm, and also stiffness in muscles & neck.
In such a situation, we should try to stretch out our necks gently and roll our shoulders in between when we can.
Yes, Prevention is better than cure and a better posture can help not only in staying away from problems by supporting our muscles, bones, and joints, but it can also help to boost our confidence and breathing.
I have promised myself to get enough movement whenever possible. I will also work on de-stressing to alleviate tension in the muscles. I will do self-massage around the neck and shoulders, and so on.
Refreshing with nature
Nature has both calming and healing abilities. One can find that just being outdoors in nature sometimes get benefits their physical & mental health. During the pandemic, the effects of not getting out into nature enough have probably hit our health more than ever.
I had an experience of “adventure in the woods” this year when I visited Mahananda wildlife sanctuary some time ago. . That was one fine morning of hills covered with dense forest where I had spent some relaxing time a little closer to nature. That was a great experience. That made me refreshes,
Sometimes a walk in the park, feeding the Birds, sitting in the garden, Gardening, and spending time with a pet. It all counts.
I really enjoy nature during my morning walk as well. I also do my exercise in an open space in the park on daily basis, get photos along the way, and also try selfies to make sure to take breaks. Ha ha ha..
Sitting there in an open space for doing my Yoga soothe my frazzled brain, even if just briefly.
Destressing my mind
Sometimes I just sit in the garden to de-stress my mind by seeing the birds chirping, feeding them, and feeling the smell of the flowers. This is incredibly provided calming and refreshing effects on the mind. Again I have a plan for a spiritual tour of some new places in the new year.
Friends, Staying fit and healthy plays an important role in one’s life. Generally, we neglect our health because of our hectic daily schedules. But there are little things that we can do each day, that will add to being healthy and fit, that is the resolution for our Good health..
