Anxiety is our body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come.
But if our feelings of anxiety are extreme, and last for longer time , we may have an anxiety disorder, It can also create mental health issues.
We have to deal cautiously to get rid of the problem.
These days the corona pandemic is causing most of us to feel fearful and nervous. The feeling can be momentarily or it may persist for a long time.
There are numerous studies that show how the problem of stress anxiety and depression is becoming omnipresent in our society. it is true that vast majority of us are being affected these days.
Assocham revealed that 45.5% of employees in the Indian Pvt sector suffer from depression and anxiety.
It is also revealed that much higher % of the working population is under stress without even realizing it and the epidemic of stress is bound to grow as work is undergoing rapid changes.
Artificial Intelligence :
The nature of work is fast changing due to A.I. at work place and is one of the major sources of stress > The sufferer are those people who is unable to adopt to the quick change in the work.
I experienced such type of situation during digitalization in Banks during my service tenure.
Work from Home :
This is a new type of assignment implemented due to corona pandemic.
When working from home, you may find yourself getting less exercise than you would in an office setting. Lack of exercise can impact your sleep quality and overall mental health. If you’re less active during the day, you might not be as tired at night. You may have trouble sleeping and develop anxiety disorder.
Fear of Job loss:
In this pandemic situation and lock down , many of the businesses have suffered and they may undergo, reducing work force . There is always a fear of losing the job in this situation. That is also one of the reasons of anxiety disorder.
Apart from these, the corona pandemic itself is a main reason to have stress and anxiety these days..
We are witnessing the bad news about corona pandemic on day to day basis that causes fear and anxiety in all of us..
It is the fact that there are so many others reason also for anxiety disorder. It also affects our immunity system and ultimately, we get trapped in corona attack.
In the case of an anxiety disorder, the feeling of fear may be with you all the time. It is intense and sometimes debilitating.
This type of anxiety may cause you to stop doing things you enjoy. In extreme cases, it may prevent you from entering an elevator, crossing the street, or even leaving your home. If left untreated, the anxiety will keep getting worse day by day and affect mental health .
Anxiety disorders are the most common form of emotional disorder and can affect anyone at any age. According to the American Psychiatric Association, women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
Other ways people experience anxiety include nightmares, panic attacks, and painful thoughts or memories that you can’t control. You may have a general feeling of fear and worry, or you may fear a specific place or event.
There are some Symptoms of general anxiety that includes:
- increased heart rate
- rapid breathing
- trouble concentrating
- difficulty falling asleep
- feeling faint or dizzy
- shortness of breath

How to deal with anxiety
- Acknowledge the stress.
what you feel doing the present work. Are you enjoying the work or feel boredom and anxiety…?
It is important to indulge in that work what you love to do. It will increase your efficiency and performance and also keep away from the stress and anxiety.
- Leverage your strength.
Don’t focus on your weakness inspire leveraging your inner strength and do the work with confidence. Always focus on you strength with positive thought.
- Finding our IKIGAI.
It is a Japanese concept referring to having a purpose in life, providing a sense of fulfillment to a person, and towards which they may take actions, giving them satisfaction and a sense of meaning.
Finding IKIGAI means finding happiness and contribute for the society.
- Develop high emotional intelligence:
Emotional intelligence is all about understanding of our own emotions and emotion of others and handle accordingly. It is very helpful to stay away from stress as we can observe feeling bodily sensation and thought.
- Breath consciously:
Breathing exercise is very helpful to de-stress . Take a long inhale and exhale for sometimes in between work. You will feel cooling down the pressure. It is necessary to take deep breath in between the time of work make yourself fresh and cool.
- Write a Journal :
This is the very powerful technique for dealing with stress. Writing about the emotions/ feeling we felt during the tough time. Just use your notepad, dairy or in mobile phone. Expressing your emotions in writing and feel yourself cool and de-stress.
There can be thousands of ways to deal with stress. You can choose what suit you or work for you.
I would say that please identify your stress level and deal with to make physically and mentally strong.
Lifestyle changes can be an effective way to relive some of the stress and anxiety you may cope with every day. Most of the natural “remedies” consist of caring for your body, participating in healthy activities, and eliminating unhealthy ones. We may summarize as :
- getting enough sleep
- staying active and exercising
- eating a healthy diet
- staying active and working out
- avoiding alcohol
- avoiding caffeine
- quitting smoking cigarettes
these lifestyle changes seem like a positive way to help you eliminate some anxiety and stress.

- Turmeric :

- Dark chocolate:
incorporating some dark chocolate into your diet may also be helpful for easing anxiety.
Dark chocolate contains flavanols, which are antioxidants that may benefit brain function. It may be helpful for improving anxiety due to its stress-reducing antioxidants and ability to increase serotonin levels.
- Yogurt :
If you suffer from anxiety, yogurt is a great food to include in your diet.
