Friends,
Indian Premier League (IPL) is the Biggest festival of India .
Like the last season, this year’s edition also begins under the huge shadow of the resurgence of COVID pandemic.
Yes, we are witnessing the 14th birthday celebration of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) this year..
The season has kick starts with defending champions Mumbai Indians taken on Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The result was quite surprising as RCB owned the first IPL match of this season.
- It has been rituals since 2008, when India’s single biggest export to the world was born out of a consummation between the game’s powerful patrons and the country’s corporate echelons.
But this season is the big challenge as all are just guessing how will this year completion, whether that midway, owing to relentless pandemic or just completed as per schedule ending on 30th may.
After successful staging the IPL in the UAE last year, the BCCI has decided to host the event in India this time.
- Six cities have been chosen where the matches will be held, however, a tremendous spike in COVID-19 cases, is a big threat,
There is a sense of anxiety in the team management following COVID positive reports of few players..

- Three IPL players have already tested positive. While one has recovered, the other two – Axar Patel and Devdutt Padikkal – are yet to recover and get back with the team. Also, to make the matter worse, 10 grounds men of the Wankhede – where many IPL matches will take place – have tested positive for the novel COVID.
For the first time in India, the IPL will be held without fans in the field..
- Last year, IPL was slated to take place in the month of March, but was postponed and later held in September after the Men’s T20 World Cup was postponed. But the tournament did not take place in India, it had to be shifted to UAE.
- The IPL 2021 auction took place on February 18. The full IPL 2021 schedule was announced on March 7. The stakeholders have already entered their respective team bio-secure bubbles.
It’s now for the games to begin the matches will take place at six venues in India – Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Kolkata. The final of the tournament will be played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium Ahmedabad on May 30th.
- Rishav Pant will lead The Delhi Capital after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to shoulder injury. Could this be the turning point of his carrier ?
- After remaining unsold for a number of years, Chateshwar Pujara , a Test specialist was finally bought by CSK for Rs. 50.00 lac . He claimed that he is working on his power hitting strokes and will be seen differently.
- The Mumbai Indians could become the first team to win three IPL title in a row.
They beat CSK in 2019 by just one run, beat Delhi Capital 2020 and this year also a Bonafede contender.

- After enduring their worst IPL last year, CSK would be in expected to bounce back after making a few changes.
Shane Watson has retired, but three-time champions would be strengthened by the return of Suresh Raina. and Ruturaj Gailwad expected to perform well.
- Last year, it was K.L. Rahul….670 runs, Shikhar Dhawan ..618 runs , this year we expect David Warner, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may go for orange cap.
- Last year, it was Kagiso Rabada…30 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah…27 wickets, this year we expect, Trent Boult, Anrich Nortje to add to the fight for Purple cap.
- This year, DC will miss regular captain Shreyas Iyer due to shoulder operation, RR will miss Jofra Archer due to hand injury and Josh Hazlewood, who refused to come to India citing COVID concern..
- The eight franchises went for some of the finest talent available, giving them a chance to unleash their potential and make an impact in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
- The all-rounders were in demand. Chris Morris was sold to Rajasthan Royals for a whopping sum of INR 16.25 Cr & became the most expensive player bought in the IPL Auction history.
- Kyle Jamieson & Glenn Maxwell were both sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore whereas K Gowtham & Moeen Ali were sold to Chennai Super Kings.
Young hard-hitting batsman, Shahrukh Khan was sold to Punjab Kings while English all-rounder Tom Curran was bought by Delhi Capitals.
They all featured in the Top 10 Buys at the auction.r Auction
