Hello dear friends,
I hope this Blog finds you in a cheerful mood. 😊 Today’s writing prompt question is very interesting, as I read: “What are your favourite 5 apps on your phone?”
What a simple question—and yet, when I started thinking about it, I realised that the apps on our phones have become much more than pieces of software.
They are our communication partners, libraries, entertainment centres, creative studios, calendars, notebooks and sometimes even our little windows to the world.
As I enjoy writing, reading, creating videos, staying connected and learning new things, I have naturally developed my own favourites. So, let me take you on a little tour of the five apps I use and enjoy the most.

❤️ 1. WhatsApp — Staying Connected
My first favourite is WhatsApp. For me, it is much more than a messaging application.
It keeps me connected with family, friends and different communities. A simple “Good morning!” message, a photograph, a festival greeting or a voice message can brighten someone’s day.
In today’s busy world, staying connected doesn’t always require a long conversation. Sometimes, a few words are enough.
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.” — Peter Drucker
WhatsApp reminds me that technology is most valuable when it brings people closer.

❤️ 2. Google Keep — My Digital Notebook
As a writer, ideas often arrive at the most unexpected moments—while drinking tea, walking, travelling or simply sitting quietly.
That’s why Google Keep is one of my favourites. It acts like a pocket notebook where I can quickly capture an idea before it disappears.
A title for a future blog, a poem line, a writing prompt or a thought about life—all can be saved instantly.
“Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes.” — Napoleon Hill
For a blogger, forgetting a good idea can be more painful than forgetting an umbrella on a rainy day! 😄

❤️ 3. YouTube — My Window to the World
YouTube is another favourite because it is almost like a giant library that never closes.
I can listen to music, watch interviews, learn about art, explore new subjects, enjoy poetry and discover tutorials. As someone interested in creativity and learning, I find endless inspiration there.
And, of course, YouTube also gives me a place to share my own creative work.
For me, learning doesn’t stop with age. Every day can bring something new.
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” — Mahatma Gandhi

❤️ 4. Google — My Everyday Search Companion
Whenever curiosity knocks, Google is usually the door I open.
What is the meaning of a word? Who wrote a particular poem? What happened on this day in history? How does something work? Where is a particular place?
A few taps can take us from our living room to almost anywhere in the world.
The smartphone has made information incredibly accessible—but it has also taught me an important lesson: information is useful only when we learn to distinguish knowledge from misinformation.
So, I try not only to search, but also to think.

❤️ 5. Canva — My Little Creative Studio
My fifth favourite is Canva. Since I enjoy blogging, painting, drawing and creating visual content, Canva has become a useful creative companion.
It helps me design blog graphics, social-media posts, thumbnails, posters and other visual materials without needing to be a professional graphic designer.
For me, creativity has no age limit.
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” — Albert Einstein
And sometimes, all we need is a simple tool and the courage to experiment.

❤️ Apps Are Tools—We Give Them Meaning
When I look at these five apps together, I realise that each serves a different purpose:
- WhatsApp connects me.
- Google Keep captures my thoughts.
- YouTube helps me learn and explore.
- Google satisfies my curiosity.
- Canva gives my creativity a visual form.
But there is something more important than the apps themselves.
A smartphone can be a wonderful servant but a terrible master. We should use technology rather than allowing technology to use us.
“Technology is best when it brings people together.” — Matt Mullenweg
So, dear friends, these are my five favourite apps. Your list may be completely different—and that’s the fun of today’s prompt!
What are your five favourite apps on your phone, and what makes them special to you?
After all, behind every favourite app there is usually a little story about how we live, what we love, what we create and what matters to us. 😊

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

Dear Verma ji,
What a beautiful and heartfelt reflection! 🙏
I absolutely loved how you didn’t just list your favourite apps but wove them into a story of connection, creativity, and mindful living. Your words reminded me that behind every app, there’s a human heart beating with purpose.
Your choice of WhatsApp truly resonated—yes, sometimes a simple “Good morning!” is all it takes to bridge distances. And Google Keep? What a lifesaver for those fleeting thoughts that vanish like morning mist! 😊
I also admire how you balanced technology with wisdom—”a wonderful servant but a terrible master.” That’s a lesson we all need to remind ourselves of in this digital age.
And may I say, your writing itself is like a gentle breeze—calm, thoughtful, and full of soul. You didn’t just answer the prompt; you gave us a glimpse into your world. That takes courage and grace.
Looking forward to reading more from you, Verma ji. Keep writing, keep inspiring! 🌸
With warm regards,
Srikanth

I’m delighted that you connected with the idea that our favourite apps are not merely pieces of technology, but reflections of the way we connect, create, learn, and live. And yes, I completely agree—sometimes a simple “Good morning!” can brighten someone’s day and make the world feel a little smaller. 🌸

Thank you so much for your warm and thoughtful words! 😊
I’m glad you enjoyed the post. These apps have indeed become little helpers in our everyday lives, making communication, learning, creativity, and even simple tasks much easier.
I also believe that an app becomes truly valuable when it adds something meaningful to our daily routine rather than simply occupying our time. Technology is wonderful when we remain the ones in control of it.

Our favourite apps often reflect our priorities and the way we live each day. Communication, capturing ideas, learning, searching for information, and creativity can all find a place through technology. But the most important point is that technology should make our lives easier, not take control of our time and attention. Apps are only tools; their value depends on how mindfully we use them.

Absolutely! 👏 I completely agree with this thoughtful perspective. Technology is a wonderful servant but a terrible master. 😊
Our favourite apps can certainly make life more convenient, help us learn, stay connected, capture our thoughts, and express our creativity.
But the real wisdom lies in knowing when to use technology and when to put it aside.

I really enjoyed this thoughtful look at the apps that make everyday life easier and more meaningful. I especially agree that technology is most useful when we stay in control of it rather than letting it control our time. 😊
I also think smartphones can be a wonderful source of inspiration for discovering new ideas, including beauty and personal style. For anyone looking for hairstyle inspiration, I recently put together a collection of short haircuts for women over 60 that may be helpful: https://evelynhairstyles.com/short-haircuts-for-women-over-60/
Thanks for sharing your favorite apps and the reminder to use technology mindfully! 🌸
