This poem reflects on life as an imperfect yet deeply personal journey. Through moments of pride, regret, success, and failure, it highlights how even the unfinished and flawed parts of our story give it meaning—reminding us that ownership of our journey is, in itself, enough.
# My Story #
My life is not a perfect book.
Some pages are torn,
some rewritten,
and some left unfinished.
There are lines I am proud of,
and lines I wish I had never written.
I have known
the quiet weight of failure
and the brief warmth of success.
I have held laughter in my hands,
and watched it slip
into silence.
But this story continues—
not because it is flawless,
but because it is mine.
And maybe,
that is enough.

love this work Vijay. if we can accept that we are enough and that there’s nothing wrong with losing and striving, we’d be better off. keep up the positive message my friend, it is a great reminder/inspiration for me. your friend in the United States, Mike

Mike, that really means a lot—thank you, my friend. 😊
You’ve said it beautifully… accepting that we are already enough, while still striving and growing, is such a powerful balance. It takes a lot of pressure off and turns the journey into something more meaningful rather than something to constantly prove.

This feels so real and gently powerful… like embracing every imperfect piece without trying to hide it. There’s something deeply comforting in the way you’ve owned your story flaws, pauses, and all. 🤍

Thank you—that’s such a thoughtful way to see it. 🌿
I think there’s a quiet freedom in not trying to smooth everything out or make it look perfect. The flaws, the pauses, the unfinished parts… they carry their own kind of truth, and maybe even a bit of beauty.
I’m really glad that feeling came through. If it can offer even a little comfort or sense of acceptance, then it’s done what it was meant to do. 😊

This is an excellent metaphor for yourself as a book and your life. Greatly articulated and vividly imaged Work, excellent job.

Thank you so much—I truly appreciate that. 😊
I’ve always felt the idea of life as a book captures something real about how we grow—each moment adding a line, each experience shaping the story in its own way. I’m glad the imagery connected with you.
Your kind words mean a lot—grateful it resonated. 🌿

Verma ji, this poem is quietly powerful—like a steady heartbeat beneath the surface. You’ve captured the beauty of an unfinished life with such honesty and grace. The line ‘I have held laughter in my hands, and watched it slip into silence’ stayed with me long after reading. Thank you for reminding us that owning our story, with all its mess and tenderness, is more than enough—it’s everything. 🤝

That’s a really thoughtful reading of it.
I’m glad that line stayed with you—that “slipping into silence” moment was meant to feel like something we’ve all quietly experienced, even if we don’t always name it. Funny how the smallest phrases sometimes carry the longest echo.

Thank you so much—I’m really glad it felt relatable 😊
That’s always the hope, that somewhere in the lines, a piece of it feels familiar to someone else too.

Absolutely—it really is. 😊
At the end of the day, it’s the connections we make—with people, moments, even with ourselves—that give everything meaning. Without them, even the best experiences can feel a bit empty.

I love how you used a book to describe your life. It adds an element of uniqueness and authenticity to the prose. Wonderful poem Verma!

Thank you—that’s really kind of you. 😊
I think the “book” metaphor just naturally fits life, doesn’t it? Every experience becomes a page,
and even the messy or unfinished parts have their own place in the story. I’m glad that idea came across as authentic to you.

Thank you—that means a lot. 😊
Yes… the story really does continue, page by page, moment by moment.
And maybe that’s the most beautiful part of it—it never truly ends, it just keeps unfolding in new ways.
