This poem traces a journey from emotional dependence to self-realization. Through vivid natural imagery and reflective tone, it expresses how solitude can become a place of growth, where inner light replaces the need for external validation.
My Golden Age Within
I built my walls of fragile glass,
To watch for someone else to pass.
I thought my home was cold and gray,
Unless a guest came by to stay.
I thought my joy was only lent,
Depending on the time they spent.
But in the silence, something grew—
A secret flower, bright and new.
I do not need the outside light
To tell me that my soul is bright.
I’ve traded “waiting” for the sun,
For a life that has just begun.
I am the land, I am the sea,
The only one who sets me free.
The stage is mine, the song is clear;
I have no room for doubt or fear.
My golden age is not a dream,
Or waiting for a distant gleam.
It’s finding peace within my core,
Walking through my own front door.

A truly reflective and empowering piece. The way you’ve captured the shift from seeking light outside to discovering it within feels both gentle and profound. The imagery of silence nurturing something bright speaks beautifully of solitude as a space of becoming. “Walking through my own front door” stayed with me — such a quiet yet powerful realization. Thank you for sharing this journey inward. ✨

Thank you so much for this beautiful reflection. I’m truly touched by how deeply you connected with the piece and its quiet journey inward. It means a lot that the imagery and closing line stayed with you—that’s exactly the kind of gentle realization
I hoped it might offer. Your thoughtful words feel like a light of their own, and I’m grateful you shared them. ✨

A good post that shows our worth is not built on the attention or adoration of others. It is the quiet self assurance of who we are and acting accordingly every day that tells the tale. Have a good Tuesday. Allan

Thank you so much, Allan. I really appreciate your thoughtful words.
You captured the heart of it perfectly—true worth really does grow from that quiet self-assurance within, not from outside applause.
I’m glad the message resonated with you. Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday as well, filled with calm confidence and good moments.
