# A Sweet Nostalgia: One Snack, Many Stories #

Daily writing prompt
What snack would you eat right now?

Hello, dear Friends! 🌿

I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood—perhaps with a warm cup of tea nearby and a tiny craving already forming somewhere in your thoughts.

Today’s writing prompt, “What snack would you eat right now?”, may seem simple at first glance, but it carries a quiet depth.

Because snacks are never just food. They are emotions, memories, comfort, culture, and sometimes even a gentle rebellion against routine meals.

So, what snack would I eat right now?

Without hesitation, my mind drifts to a bar of dark chocolate—the kind that instantly takes me back to childhood.

That first bite, slightly bitter yet beautifully sweet, melting slowly on the tongue, feels like a familiar hug.

Dark chocolate has always been more than a treat for me; it’s a reminder of simpler times, stolen moments of joy, and the magic of savoring something without rushing.

Snacking is rarely about hunger alone. Often, it’s about how we feel. We reach for sweet flavors when we crave comfort, crunchy bites when we need grounding, and familiar tastes when we long for nostalgia.

In that sense, snacks are emotional storytellers. They quietly reveal what our hearts and minds need in that very moment.

Right now, dark chocolate feels right—not just for its taste, but for the memories and warmth it carries with it.

Coincidentally, this craving aligned beautifully with a recent experience during my trip to Delhi.

I revisited the city exactly a year after my last visit and explored several places, but one destination stood out and completely stole my heart—Dhan Mill.

Tucked away in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur area, Dhan Mill is a space that effortlessly blends history, creativity, art, and food. What was once a warehouse and granary has now been transformed into a vibrant cultural hub.

The story behind its evolution is inspiring. Originally established by R. K. Jain, who moved to Delhi in the 1960s to run a family agricultural grain mill business, the property faced years of losses.

Eventually abandoned, the space was reimagined a few years ago into what it is today—a thriving destination that celebrates art, fashion, and flavors.

Dhan Mill feels like a breath of fresh air in the middle of a bustling city. It’s perfect for slow evenings, relaxed conversations, and creative inspiration.

One of the standout spots here is Palette, a café that beautifully merges art with food. With soothing music, walls adorned with paintings, and a menu featuring Italian, Lebanese, and Mexican cuisines, it’s a haven for artists, thinkers, and food lovers alike.

But the true highlight of my visit—and the reason this blog circles back to dark chocolate—was Colocal, a bean-to-bar chocolate factory and café nestled within the Dhan Mill compound.

As I stepped in around 6:30 PM, I was welcomed by lush greenery, cozy seating, and an irresistible aroma of chocolate.

Colocal is nothing short of a dream for chocolate lovers. I indulged in their 65% hot chocolate, which tasted like pure melted chocolate—rich, velvety, and indulgent.

Their Margherita sourdough surprised me with its freshness and flavor, quickly becoming a favorite.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist a chocolate tart topped with cacao nibs and a flourless chocolate cake that was fudgy, gooey, and perfectly balanced with a cappuccino.

They also offer an impressive range of vegan options, along with pasta and burgers, making it a place worth revisiting again and again.

Curiosity led me upstairs to explore the chocolate-making process. The friendly staff patiently explained each step, and I learned that Colocal is among the first chocolate roasters in India.

Watching the journey of cacao beans turning into chocolate was fascinating and made every bite feel even more special.

Before leaving, I picked up a few chocolate bars to share with friends and family—though, admittedly, part of me wanted to keep them all.

So when asked, “What snack would you eat right now?”, my answer isn’t just dark chocolate—it’s memory, experience, and emotion wrapped in cocoa.

Snacks, like stories, connect moments. They remind us of where we’ve been, what we love, and how deeply taste is tied to feeling.

If you’re ever in Delhi, Dhan Mill deserves a spot on your list. And if dark chocolate speaks to your soul the way it does to mine, Colocal is an experience you shouldn’t miss.

Until next time—happy exploring, happy snacking, and may your cravings always lead you to sweet memories 🍫✨
