#Opening a Shop of Emotions#

A Dream Born from Passion and Purpose

Daily writing prompt
If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?

Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful and reflective mood.

Today’s writing prompt sparked a lovely thought in me — “If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?”

The question seems simple, but hidden beneath its surface lies the essence of who we are, what we value, and how we wish to serve the world.

For me, the answer came with a smile and a heart full of dreams.
If I were to open a shop, I would not sell gadgets, clothes, or sweets.
I would open a shop of emotions.

Yes — a shop of joy, memories, creativity, and comfort. A little haven tucked in a cozy corner of the world, where people don’t just buy — they experience.

Let me take you on a walk through this dream.

On the wooden shelves of my shop, you’d find paintings, poems, stories, and songs — each born not for profit, but from the soul. These wouldn’t be products in the traditional sense, but rather pieces of healing and hope.

My own handmade artworks, each with a little story attached, would speak to the heart rather than the wallet.

Poetry prints would hang gently on strings across the walls, with verses that whisper,
“You are not alone.”
“This too shall pass.”
“Find beauty in the everyday.”

Every item would carry not a price tag, but a “pay-from-the-heart” jar — because emotions cannot be valued in currency.

My shop would have a cozy reading corner, lined with handmade journals, my published books, and personal blog stories — bound in soft covers and warm words.

Visitors could sip a cup of herbal tea (my favorite!) while reading stories of love, loss, learning, and laughter.
A place where retired souls like me, or young dreamers, could come and feel seen.

There would be a suggestion box, not for business feedback, but for emotional requests:
“Write me a poem about healing,”
Tell me a story for sleepless nights,”
“Paint me a memory I miss.”

Wouldn’t it be magical to have a shop where connection replaces consumption?

One section of the shop would be dedicated to short video reels — carefully crafted emotional songs and heartfelt poetry.

Screens would play soulful verses I’ve turned into videos — like “Dil Ka Rishta” or “Barsaat Mein”. These aren’t just videos; they’re fragments of a life well-lived and deeply felt.

I would offer the option for people to commission custom videos for their loved ones — for anniversaries, retirements, or simply to say “I love you.”

In a world that scrolls fast, these videos would ask people to pause, feel, and remember.

And what’s a shop of emotions without human connection?
There would be weekly storytelling circles or “chai & chat” evenings — where strangers become friends.

We’d talk about books, childhood memories, retirement dreams, painting techniques, and life’s small miracles.

Every month, I’d host a “Grandparents and Grandchildren” day, where age meets innocence. We’d paint together, tell fairy tales, and dance slowly with laughter in the air.

Because in today’s world, we have enough stores for what we want
What we truly need is a space for what we feel.

After retirement, I discovered that life’s richest offerings aren’t in numbers or possessions — but in expression, healing, and sharing.

So, if I were to open a shop, I’d make it a place where
people walk in with burdens and walk out with stories.
They enter curious, and leave a little more complete.
A shop where money isn’t the currency — empathy is.

Dear readers, we all have a shop inside us — a place where our passion meets the world’s need. Maybe yours is a shop of books, kindness, memories, or even laughter. What matters most is not what you sell, but why you sell it.

And so, my little shop of emotions may never exist on a busy street.
But through my blogs, art, poems, and videos — it already lives.

Every post I share, every smile I spread, is a little offering from that invisible shop.

If you were to open a shop, what would you sell?
And more importantly — what would you give?

With warmth, imagination, and a cup of mint tea,
~ Vijay Verma
