#The Change I Hope My Blog Can Make

The emotional exchange between you and me

Daily writing prompt
What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

Hello dear friends,
I hope this blog finds you in a cheerful mood and curious spirit.

Today’s writing prompt touched a quiet corner of my heart: “What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?”

It’s a question that makes me pause and reflect. Not on statistics, views, or shares, but on the heartbeats behind each word I write—the emotional exchange between me and you, my reader.

I began blogging after retirement, a chapter of life that often signals slowing down. But for me, it became a time to ignite —my creativity, curiosity, and connection with others.

Initially, I started writing for myself. It was a way to untangle thoughts, relive memories, and paint the canvas of my soul with colors I hadn’t explored before.

But over time, something beautiful began to happen. My words resonated. Someone messaged saying a poem reminded them of their father. Another commented that a short story of mine made them cry—and feel lighter.

That’s when it struck me: Yes, this blog could be more than a hobby.

In a world overwhelmed with noise—breaking news, filtered perfection, and rushed opinions—I want my blog to be a pause. A quiet, honest space. A digital bench in a garden, where someone can sit and just feel.

If I could make one change, it would be this:
To make people feel seen, heard, and understood.

It might seem small, but when someone finds a reflection of their own experience in your words, it sparks healing.

When a reader nods, “Yes, that’s exactly how I feel,” a bridge forms. And in that moment, loneliness retreats. Isn’t that a change worth striving for?

Through my writings—be it reflective essays, nostalgic tales from my youth, or verses woven from emotion—I aim to inspire self-awareness, compassion, and calm.

In today’s hurried life, people rarely stop to introspect. I hope my blog can remind them to slow down, to cherish the scent of morning chai, to laugh at old photos, or to forgive someone after years of silence.

One small blog post can carry ripples.
– A poem on resilience may help someone grieving.
– A story about finding joy in little things may uplift someone battling depression.
– A post on aging with grace may bring hope to someone who feels forgotten.

There’s another dimension to this mission—to awaken the dormant artist in people, especially in those who, like me, felt they weren’t “creative” for much of their lives.

I spent years in the world of banking, never once thinking I would become a poet, a storyteller, or a painter. But now I know: creativity isn’t exclusive—it’s universal.

Through my blog, I want to encourage others—retirees, homemakers, professionals, youth—to write, paint, sing, or just express.
To take a leap into creativity, not for fame, but for joy. For self-discovery.

If I can be the nudge that helps someone pick up a paintbrush or write their first poem, that’s a legacy worth leaving.

More than making noise in the world, I hope my blog makes meaning. A quiet change, like the first light of dawn. Like the scent of wet earth after rain.

I don’t aspire to change governments or reshape economies—but if I can soothe one aching heart, inspire one tired soul, or guide one lost mind toward self-belief, then my blog has made its mark.

And perhaps, one day, a granddaughter will stumble upon these pages and discover not just my words, but the rhythm of my life. And smile.

So, what change do I hope to make in the world?

– To bring warmth in a cold moment.

– To make reflection fashionable again.

– To remind people that art, kindness, and quiet truths still matter.

Big change? Perhaps not.
But if a single spark of my writing kindles light in another’s life, then that—
It is more than enough.

Thank you for walking beside me on this journey.

BE HAPPY… BE ACTIVE… BE FOCUSED… BE ALIVE

  2. back in 2009 after meditating in prayer with the NIV Bible on my lap, God literally TOLD me this was to be my calling. To build a website called, “Bethebeacon.com” and it went pretty much viral. No one opened their wallets though, and I went so broke that I had to give up my web hosting and lose the domain.

however, ever since then I hear “beacon” as a byword. It’s awesome.

    • Thank you for sharing such a powerful and personal experience. 🙏

It’s incredible how deeply that moment in 2009 shaped your path—“Be the Beacon” is more than a name; it’s a divine calling etched into your soul. The fact that it still echoes in your life today, like a sacred byword, shows just how strong and true your inner light really is.

Even though the original site may no longer exist, the spirit behind it continues to shine through you. And who knows? Perhaps that beacon will rise again, even brighter and more enduring this time.

Keep listening. Keep glowing. You are already living your calling. 💫

      • I hear other people say it ALL THE TIME now. The entire thought of “Being The Beacon” as an encouragement for God’s children to Be As Beacons of Light and Hope in a dark and frightening world, as a Lighthouse shines light and hope to weary sailors after a long sail through dark and stormy seas, that home comes soon, and safety of landing. God Bless.

“Being the Beacon” is not just a phrase, it’s a divine calling that radiates timeless truth. The imagery of a lighthouse guiding weary souls to safety is profoundly moving. In a world often clouded with fear and uncertainty, your message is a powerful reminder that we are called to shine with love, hope, and faith—for ourselves and for others.

Your words continue to reflect the light of that original calling, and I truly believe your beacon still shines—perhaps even brighter now, touching hearts in unseen ways.

May God continue to bless and guide your path. 🕊️✨
