# My First Bullet Ride #

In the tapestry of our lives, certain moments stand out like vibrant threads, weaving a story that resonates through the years.

One such vivid thread in the fabric of my memories is the day I embarked on my first Bullet ride—a journey that transcended fear and welcomed the sweet taste of victory.

This story harks back to those days when the most beautiful moments of our lives unfolded — holding the Joining Letter of a banking job. The Bank was the “Bank of India,” and the place was “Jhumaritilaiya,” a town buzzing with discussions due to the popularity of the “Binaka Geet Mala in those days.

Transitioning from an educational life to a professional one, I was filled with new enthusiasm and zeal. Being single at the time, life was a joyful adventure.

Having no liabilities due to being the youngest at home, terms like worry, stress, tension, and sorrow were absent from my dictionary. My only focus was on moving forward in life, embracing love, and seeing myself as a hero.

On the memorable date of November 10, 1983, I arrived at the Bank of India’s Jhumaritilaiya branch for my joining. The branch manager, Sri. D. Ekambram, greeted me with great enthusiasm.

The atmosphere seemed perfect, and I felt like I had found the destination of my life. For the first seven days, being a Field Officer, I was involved in training myself about the Bank procedure for providing loans to villages and timely recovery of loans.

One fine day, the branch manager called me to his chamber and informed me that I needed to visit all the nearby villages, connect with the farmers, and disburse loans according to their needs.

Additionally, a new Bullet motorcycle had been purchased for field visits.

I expressed my concern about the challenging roads in the villages, suggesting that a jeep would be more suitable. He chuckled and said, “We don’t have that much power.”

The reality was that, at that time, I hadn’t learned to ride a motorcycle, especially not a heavy Bullet. I conveyed my dilemma, mentioning that I had no experience in riding motorcycles, let alone a hefty Bullet.

Despite my worries, he assured me, saying, “No worries, I will teach you to ride the Bullet in a day.”

Looking at him with a pleading look, it seemed like I was wondering if there were no other choices. But as he was the manager, slim and only 40 kg but very brave, he confidently said, “It’s okay, I’ll teach you to ride the Bullet in a day.”

To be honest, that night I couldn’t sleep properly. I knew that if I fell while riding the Bullet, breaking my hands or legs was almost certain. In such a situation, what would a lone person like me do?

Nevertheless, the next morning, I invoked the name of God, performed a thorough puja, remembered almost all the deities, and forcefully sought everyone’s blessings.

Around 10 AM, I knocked on the door of his house near the Jhanda-Chawk. He warmly welcomed me and introduced me to his newlywed wife, and then we left for the nearby village “Bekobar” with the Brand new Bullet.

The field-like terrain was challenging, but it was decided to learn to ride the Bullet there.

He made me sit on the Bullet and instructed me to slowly release the clutch. I followed his instructions, and with a few jerks, the Bullet began to slide on its own.

I knew that if anything went wrong, I would fall, and my limbs would probably break. Yet, I kept my composure, gained confidence, and understood that despite not having a tall and broad physique, I could handle the Bullet well.

The lunch that day tasted the most delicious. I still cherish the first image of that Bullet that was taken out, because that day, I realized that “Beyond Fear, Victory Beckons.”

BE HAPPY….BE ACTIVE….BE FOCUSED….BE ALIVE…

  1. You make it sound easy

You did great job for the first ride 😅

    What are your favorite bike?

Btw you look amazing on the bike, dashing VKV 🤩

I don’t dislike bullet, it’s a great bike. I thought of buying it, but then I tried moving it and I couldn’t.
Even though I go to gym and lift weights 😛

To me bullet is 200 kg iron junk 😅
But still I’m fascinated to ride it someday.

My bought my childhood favourite bike, any guesses what it could be?

    • Thank you so much for your appreciation.
I’m thrilled to hear you enjoyed the ride and the way I presented it.

Choosing a favorite bike is a tough call since there are so many fantastic options out there.
However, if I had to pick, I’d say my favorite is only Bullet. I still have a bullet with me.😂😂.

And I must say, your enthusiasm for the Bullet is contagious, even if you find it a bit on the heavier side.
It’s a classic icon with its own charm, and who knows, one day you might conquer that 200 kg iron junk!

As for your childhood favorite bike, the suspense is killing me! Could it be a timeless Yamaha RX100 or perhaps a sleek Honda CB Unicorn?
I’m eager to know which two-wheeled beauty holds a special place in your heart!

      • Bullet is a good bike but the way people ride it make it look a bad bike 😅

        In royal Enfield I like meteor, classic/thunderbird x 350

        I also like TVS Apache

Yamaha MT is my 2nd favourite bike on road

But my love belongs to yamaha FZS 😍
130 kg only, glides smoothly on road

        • Absolutely, the way people ride a bike can certainly influence its perception.
It’s great that you appreciate the Royal Enfield models like the Meteor, Classic/Thunderbird X 350.
They do have a timeless charm.

Your taste in bikes is diverse and impressive.
TVS Apache is known for its performance, and the Yamaha MT series has a striking presence on the road.
However, I completely understand your love for the Yamaha FZS.
Its lightweight design at 130 kg and smooth gliding on the road make it a joy to ride.
May you have many more delightful rides on your beloved Yamaha FZS! 😍🏍️

  2. It is fun seeing a younger you being made into a motorcycle commuter for your banking job! Were your bank clients in the towns you commuted to impressed when you showed up on this huge motorcycle? It seems like it would be a very impressive ride to people in any country.

I rode my brother’s Honda once because he insisted it was fun to ride motorcycles. I found it unpleasantly close to the pavement and left me too exposed to danger to be fun, though I’m glad I tried it. A fast car instead? Yeah! I am an enthusiastic driver, though I follow road rules.

    • I appreciate your observation about the younger me as a motorcycle commuter for a banking job.
It was indeed an unconventional choice, and I must admit, there were mixed reactions from bank clients.
Some found it quite impressive and even a great conversation starter, while others were a bit surprised
by the unexpected mode of transportation. It was always an adventure.

It’s understandable that motorcycles might not be everyone’s cup of tea looking to the physique like mine.
They do provide a unique and exhilarating experience but can be an acquired taste. Your preference for a fast car
aligns with many enthusiasts who enjoy the thrill of the road while staying within the comfort of a well-enclosed vehicle.
It’s great that you follow road rules and prioritize safety while still relishing the joy of driving.
Do you have a favorite type of car or any memorable driving experiences you’d like to share?
      I’d love to hear more!😊😊

      • I am enthusiastic for German cars, and have had three VW’s – a Beetle, and two Golfs – and an Audi 80. While they aren’t highly powered automobiles, they are engineered to be responsive road machines. My current car is a VW Golf SportWagen. It is fun to drive, very responsive to road situations, and is just enough of a car that I can’t get into trouble while enjoying a sporty drive. I’ve had American cars – a Chevrolet Impala and a Chrysler Lebaron coupe – that had big engines and were sporty, but less fun to drive because of their size. I especially enjoy my VW on drives up to South Dakota. There’s lots of hilly roads, which are perfect for a small, responsive VW Golf SportWagen. Engine size is less important than how the car handles on twisty roads at highway speeds, which are 65 mph/105 kph in this part of Nebraska and 70 mph/ 113 kph as soon as you cross over into South Dakota. The Audi was lots of fun to drive, too, a very stable car on challenging roads, but the price of that car is well above what I’m able or willing to pay these days.

          • Ah, drawing! My favourite way to express art! Enjoy it to the fullest I am sure you will find the experience quite rewarding Sir. I am still battling with the new painting. It is…I imagine…90% finished but it is still quite conversant with me so I must listen to make sure I place the necessary 10% and not a single brush-stroke more. That is how it is with art Sir, you have to listen to whatever it is that you are creating because they do speak. Take good care, enjoy your drawing and all the best!

Your insights about the final 10% resonated deeply with me, and
I appreciate the reminder to listen to the artwork, allowing it to guide the finishing touches.

I wish you all the best with your current painting. The patience and attentiveness
you’re applying to ensure each brushstroke is in harmony with the whole is admirable.
It’s a beautiful testament to the intimate relationship artists share with their work.

May your painting bring you immense joy and fulfillment as you bring it to completion.
