# Chhath Puja_ Nahay Khay #

Dear friends

The festival of Lok Astha, Chhath festival started today on Friday i.e. on 28th October 2022 with Nahay-Khay.

In the wake of the four-day ritual, everyone everywhere including my native place is drenched in devotion.

Cleanliness and preparedness of Ghats and Ponds are being finalized on a war footing.

I remember the moments when all my friends used to come together to clean our streets and lanes to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees and people towards Ghats prepared at ponds and the banks of river Ganga..

But this year I am deprived of those exciting moments.  I could not go there because of some unavoidable circumstances.

I feel very sad for not attending my favorite festival Chhath Puja.

However, I have been receiving all the messages of each ritual from my friends and relatives over calls from time to time and enjoying the same. I do not have any other options.

Today, on Friday on eve of Nahaya khaya, after the Vratis(Devotee) had purified the house with the Ganga’s water. Pumpkin (gourd) vegetables, Arva rice, gram dal, and August flower dumplings were made.

On the day of Nahay Khay, at first, Vrati takes Prasad (Pumpkin-Bhat). After this, other members of the house and the people around them receive the offerings.

At that time we usually take rice, Kaddu Dal, and Vegetables and specially prepare the bachka of August flower. What a tasty Prasad we usually enjoy in the afternoon, I can only feel those moments right now..

After the completion of Nahay Khay, I bowed to the devotee (my sister) over the phone and took their blessings.

The Glory of the festival Chhath Puja is generally celebrated in Bihar and the eastern part of the U.P. and has created a special place among the devotees and people. There is a surge of faith in Suryopasana.

But now a days we can see this festival of Chhath Puja is being celebrated everywhere in India wherever Biharis are there.

In spite of many restrictions amid the pandemic of Covid-19, the enthusiasm for the festival is going up and all are busy cleaning their house, and nearby Ponds and making kachcha roads to the ghats at river Ganga.

In view of Chhath, there was a lot of movement in the market today. The devotee purchasing soups, dauras, and puja items along with fruits and sugarcane for prasad..

Due to the sudden rise in demand, the price of all the items shot up.

Soups were being sold at prices ranging from Rs. 80 to 100 and Daura from Rs. 150 to 250 and fruits and vegetables were also high.

Friends, I have just shared my feelings about day one of Chhath Puja .. it is the story of day one ..i.e. Nahay Khay …

I will present the story of 2nd day and share my feelings about “what is KHARNA” on the 2nd day of the festival Chhath Puja.

May the positivity of chhath Puja spread in your life and fill it with success and glory…
