# Air Without You #

This poem is a gentle goodbye to absence, — looking at how spaces, objects, and time hold the memory of someone who is no longer here.

It expresses the pain of remembering, feelings of longing, and the gradual journey to breathe in a world changed by loss.

Air Without You #

When you were here, the clocks would sing,
Now every tick forgets the spring.
The minutes fall like silent rain
Across the floor that holds our pain.

Your coat still waits, its sleeves at rest,
As if your arms might cross my chest.
I press my face where warmth once stayed
And breathe a scent that slowly fades.

The night leans in with careful eyes
To watch my small, unanswered sighs.
I light a lamp against the skies—
Its fragile glow, my thin disguise.

I feel your breath in fields of blue
While I learn air without your view.
Each breath I take feels strange, unsure—
A quiet life that’s lost its cure.

  1. What a profoundly moving and exquisite poem, Verma ji. You have captured the anatomy of loss with such delicate and powerful imagery. The personification of the clocks, the coat, and the night gives the absence a tangible, haunting presence.

The line, “I feel your breath in fields of blue / While I learn air without your view,” is simply breathtaking. It so perfectly encapsulates the duality of holding a memory close while simultaneously navigating the painful new reality. This is not just a poem about grief; it’s a testament to the slow, courageous act of learning to live again. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt piece of art. 🤝

    • Your words touch me more deeply than I can express.

Thank you for reading the poem with such tenderness and insight. It means a great deal to know that the emotions woven into those lines found a true resonance in you. Grief is a quiet teacher, and when someone understands its language, even a little, it feels like a hand reaching through the dark.

I’m grateful for your thoughtful reflection and your generous heart. 🤝

  2. This captures grief with such tenderness. The little moments, the quiet details… they all remind us of those who are no longer here. Your words feel delicate and true, like the air we’re left holding in their absence.

    • Thank you so much for reading it with such a gentle heart. Your words reflect exactly what the poem hoped to hold—those soft, almost invisible moments where grief breathes quietly between us and memory.

It means a lot to know the tenderness reached you. Grief is rarely loud; it is made of little things, hushed corners, and the echoes of someone we still carry within. I’m grateful that you felt that truth in these lines.
