World Environment Day

Friends, Today is June 5 and we are celebrating World Environment Day.

The UN first established World Environment Day in 1972. It is the fact that outside of our homes is the actual a home we all live in, The Earth,  and preserving it for future generations is more crucial than ever. Because we have only one earth.

World Environment Day urges all of us to protect our natural surroundings. This is both a global celebration and a platform for public outreach. We have to protect our air, water and soil to save our planet. We are going to face so many problems. Such as ..

Food crisis

In 20 years, 40 % less food is expected to be produced for 9.30 billion people. Poor soil leads to poor nutritional value . Today’s fruits and vegetables already contain 90% fewer nutrients.

Malnutrition

60% of people are nutritionally deficient because of poor soil.

90% fewer nutrition in fruits and vegetables compared to 100 years ago.

The answer is to save soil, save the environment.

Climate change

Healthy soil absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Revitalizing soil can reduce Greenhouse gas emissions emission by up to 35 %.

Biodiversity loss

87% of all life on the planet depends on soil. Soil is the largest living system in the universe.

Water scarcity

Healthy soil can hold more water than all the rivers in the world combined.  Organic soil can hold up to 90% of its weight in water and release it slowly over time. This is a big help in drought prone areas. Increasing soil organic content from 0.50 % to 3% will double the water quantity in soil.

Loss of livelihood

Thousands of farmers are committing suicide because of the depletion of soil. 74% of the poor are directly affected by land degradation globally. It is estimated that soil extinction is costing the world up to US$10.60 trillion every year.

Conflict and migration

Population growth and food and water scarcity could cause over 1 billion to migrate to other regions and countries by 2050. As we had already seen that land issues have played a significant role in over 90% of major wars and conflict in Africa since 1990.

It is a good thing that Indian company are rushing to adopt the environment, social and governance norms. They have begun to remodel their businesses to meet India’s net zero emissions deadline by 2070.

In the last 10 years, sustainability has become the key strategy for most business houses across the world aligning to ingrain climate action plan as a part of their agenda.

China, which now owns half the world’s electric vehicles and 99 percent of the world’s electric buses, hosted the 2019 event. “The country has showed tremendous leadership in tackling air pollution domestically,” “It can now help spur the world to greater action.”

World Environment Day celebration is very important because —

It reconnects us to nature

Sometimes we forget just how much natural systems support our own well-being. Since we’re part of nature, we depend on it.  So today is the perfect occasion to visit in the park and celebrate the vital relationship with nature.

It raises awareness

More and more people understand that we need to sustainably manage our planet’s resources and ecosystems. Yes,  World Environment Day is so important: it provides an occasion to raise awareness and teach friends and family that the physical environment is fragile and indispensable.  There’s always more to learn about the environment.

It encourages us for action

As we know that the environment has become increasingly polluted with contaminants and toxins, and these have a harmful impact on our health. They can cause respiratory diseases and cancer.

It is estimated that  7 million people die each year from causes related to air pollution, with a majority occurring in the Asia-Pacific region.

By raising awareness of the issues with the air that sustains us, World Environment Day inspires us to do something about it and fix the environment we can’t live without.

It is not Yours, nor Mine. It is ours.
So, Protect our mother Who Nourish us.

Message for all of us.

Save Soil is a global movement launched by Sadguru, to address the soil crisis by bringing together people from around the world to stand up for Soil Health, and supporting leaders of all nations to institute national policies and actions toward increasing the organic content in cultivable Soil.

What we are facing now is soil extinction. In most country more than 50 % of organic content in top soil already gone. The many responsible scientists in the world are clearly saying by 2045 we will be producing 40 % less food and our population will be 9.20 billion.

It is foolish to think that only the poor and downtrodden will be affected. No, it will affect every human being on the earth. Because civil administration will collapse. Civil strife will unfold. Once there is a food shortage,

It is a terrible world what we are creating. It can be turned around , this is why this soil movement is necessary to bring about soil policy change in all 192 nations to regenerate soil.

Let’s nurture the nature so that we can have a better future

In our history, we have read that humans lived in harmony with nature. But we have shattered that balance today.

We have been exploiting our planet for food products and wealth.  That has created a climate catastrophe, driving species to extinction. It also polluting our land, seas and air.

The web of life is fraying. If we fails to protect our planet , we like other species will extinct one day . The science is very clear and time is running out quick.

We must vow to reverse the process, i.e.  from harming our planet to healing it. We must protect what we have and bring back what we lost to advance to a more sustainable future where everyone can thrive.
