  1. Preetverse We can change the world @wordpress.com She wrote the following request to me: “I don’t know about zadokites. I didn’t know about any of these. This is a big treasure to me, the knowledge that you transfer. The defense system and the law and all about judges. Everything is new for me. Can you please write a blog on this? This is something very interesting and important as well. Thank you so much for sharing this.”

Lateral Common Law, its a rather fascinating subject. With my limited understanding, the יסוד, the foundation ……….

(Hebrew verbs usually have a 3-letter root. The root verb for foundation – סוד. This Hebrew root verb means: concealed or hidden. The foundation upon which a building stands, its hidden from the eye to see. When rabbis discuss “kabbalah”, they continually refer to the hidden סוד. In the late 2nd Century CE lived a rabbinic warrior, This man lived something like 120 years, before the Romans captured and killed him. He explained the revelation of the 13 middot @ Horev. Exodus 34:6.

Logic requires order. These 13 middot define the revelation of Oral Torah logic. This logic system exists as a completely different species of cat, than the logic systems developed by the ancient Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle. The latter philosopher of fame, he rode with the armies of Alexander the Great. Aristotle served as an advisor to that great warrior who conquered the Persian empire.

After Alexander died, his Generals inherited a huge empire, which they divided between themselves. If you recall, the king of Persia permitted Ezra and others to rebuild destroyed Jerusalem. Jews and Persians, despite the current hostility with Iranian clerics today, we share very good relations for thousands of years with each other.

The Seleucid Empire, a Greek civilization based in modern Syria, attempted to transform Jerusalem into a Greek polis\city state. The assimilated Tzeddukim\sadducees/supported the Syrian Greek efforts. The fore runners of the rabbis, the P’rushim\Pharisees/, they opposed the attempt to make Jerusalem into a Greek polis. A rebellion exploded, which included a Jewish Civil War, something like the North invasion of the Confederacy in the US Civil War.

But in this Jewish Civil War the P’rushim {which means separated like a person separates tithes}, [The idea of understanding the Talmud defines as development of the skills required to “””separate like from like”””, something like the eye of an artist whose art employs and creates different colors through their combinations.], so this comparison of the opposing poles in that Jewish Civil War, the P’rushim rejected forced assimilation of the Jewish populations to Greek culture and customs, while the Tzeddukim sought to obey the Seleucid king’s command.

Hence the P’rushim likewise opposed the Tzeddukim assimilated sons of Aaron. The Tzeddukim controlled, at that time, the Temple serves conducted within Jerusalem.

(What defines a korban\sacrifice? Does a korban requires swearing a Torah oath? The P’rushim taught the answer to this question in the affirmative. The Tzeddukim rejected this opinion. For them a korban amounted to offering a Barbecue unto Heaven). Something like: States Rights Washington Bites sort of bitter hatred between opposing Jewish sections of society.

The P’rushim they controlled the Courts – legal system – in Judean society; the common Man on the street, by a vast majority, supported the P’rushim. The lateral Common Law Jewish Courts served, so to speak, as the means whereby Jews conducted diplomacy with other Jews, in order to resolve contentious disputes and restoration of damages inflicted by one or more Jews upon other Jews. Justice, the Talmud defines as: compelling the damager party to make fair restitution to the victim party, both in financial monetary damages ie Torts, or Capital Crimes cases which involved 4 different types of death penalties. ……….^^^

So returning to my opening phrase. The יסוד of Torah commands justice, it learns from a 3 word commandment צדק צדק תרדוף. The translation – Justice Justice Pursue. Torah teaches a rather simple idea. It preaches no notions concerning Heaven or Hell; damnation as opposed to salvation … which so defines Xtian theology. Torah faith centers upon the obligation of bnai brit allies to conduct their affairs with one another such that a trust and bond develops that can endure conflicts of interests and damages, that Jews do to one another in the course of business and trade etc. Hence Talmudic common law spins around the lateral common law court-rooms. Here, have reduced the 20 volume Talmud to a single sentence.
