Generation Gap: Distorted Relationship

People born in different ages are different from each other in various aspects. The world is changing at a rapid pace and thus the difference between people born in different times is inevitable.

For instance, if we talk about India, people born before independence are different from those born today. There is a huge difference between the thinking of the two generations and why not? There is a drastic difference between the whole cultural, economic and social environment the two have been a part of.

Generation gap is termed as difference between two generations. The society changes at a constant pace and hence the lifestyle, ideologies, opinions, beliefs and the overall behavior of people also undergo change with time. This change gives way to newer ideas and breaks the unreasonable stereotypes and this in turn has a positive impact on the society. However most of the times it becomes a cause of conflict between two generations.

The parent child relationship is often affected due to this generation gap. It has been observed that the parents try to impose their thoughts  and ideologies on their kids while the later want to explore the world on their own.

Many relationships have suffered due to   the generation gap. Several parents and children have conflicts because of their difference of opinions which they must understand that it  is natural as there is a generation gap between them.

There is a wide range of topics on generation gap today because four generations now exists together on this planet. The life expectancy has increased enough to make it possible four generation altogether. And so side effect is also visible now a day.

We can say, there are four generations  named as ..

Baby boomer is the oldest and demographic cohort following the silent generation.

They are born between..1946 to 1964 (age between 54 yrs –74 yrs)..

They have feature like:

  1, Old age group

 2. They work best in team..

3.Believe in working hard

4. Prioritize their work and resist changing in technology.   

But they have problem..

1. Have monotonous life..
2. Feel sudden change of environment after retirement
3. Expectation is high from others.
4. Have emotion over profession
5. One way thinking without knowing the other side.
   • Generation-X:  Born between –1965 –to 1980(Age..38 to 53 yrs )
6. Generation..Y: also called as Millennial: born between: 1981 to 1996(age group 22 to 37 yrs)

 They are generally tech savvy and multitasking..

• Generation..Z: Also called as Zillennials: born between: after 1997 (age 0 to 21 yrs)

They enjoy challenges, are tech savvy and street smart..

Age is not just a number. Age gap sensitivity is the need of the hour. How to deal with the generation gap problem is a big challenge today .

We should analyse the situation and find the solution. The ultimate goal is to be happy and let the other be happy.

Some of the precaution must be taken and it is better to change yourself according to situation, rather than expecting others to change. The collision is inevitable when two generation coexist at the place but think twice before you act.

Generation gap also has its own sets of pros and cons. There is a need for developing, understanding and acceptance  in order to bridge this gap.

             We should respect and understand Baby Boomer..

Be positive…Be happy…Be focused ….Be alive..
